After seeing that mr2 the other day, I’ve been looking into and reading up on the cars; particularly the mk I & II. Oppo, feed my new obsession; show me awesome mr2 related pics, gifs, videos, etc.
Side note, im not getting the rusty one I saw before, but I’m getting my eye out for a good one....once I get the money that is. I don't know of anyone with a sound mind willing to sell one for all the money in my wallet, aka $25.

MKI FTW! Lighter, manual rack, revs higher, etc.

I still have to research all the differences between the first two gens, but the third gen doesn't look to interesting honestly, :/.

Aw11 is my favorite. The 4age is just magnificent.
Go for the supercharged if you can find one.

2nd gen could be had without power steering as well.

Ah, I had to look on wiki, aw11 is the engine nickname for the 1.6L NA and the SC. And the 4age is the NA. So the non-SC was really good then? :)

I wouldn't have my insanity any other way.

Third gen’s the secret weapon. It was a return to form. Lighter than the first gen and a better chassis, just a shit engine. Drop a 2ZZ in and it’s a baby-Lotus.

Haha, well there goes my weekend! :D

Really? Because those are easier to find than the others. And it seems to only be available with either a manual or a sequential gearbox, which as I discovered previously is no ideal, lol.

Well the manumatic sucked, but drive one with a manual. They’re good. There’s a guy at my local autoX who is usually fighting (and winning) FTD in his stripped MK3. They’re good.

FTD?

Yup aw11 is just the chassis code for the 1st gen mr2....4age is just an awesome little engine. Revs so high and smooth. Also used in the famous AE86.
The supercharged engine is the 4agze “z” designates supercharged in the engine code for Toyota engines.
Both are good engine but obviously the SC has a bit more hp.

Stock engine?

Wait what? It was used in the ae86? The one car I absolutely love?! :D awesome!

It’s the original 1ZZ corolla engine, but I think it’s lightly tuned. I know it has a megasquirt and headers, but I don’t think much else.

The AW11 MR2 rules. One of the best cars of the 80's without a doubt.

Oh, purrty...
Looks modified though...in a good way....
![]() 05/14/2016 at 11:06 |

Yup! Never drivin an ae86 but I imagine they feel very similar to the aw11 ....minus the lift off over steer lol

I wonder how many are left out there....

Mk1's are the best! Here’s mine!
with a 20v swap!

Wow, that engine doesn't take up much room.

I test drove a mk2 turbo for someone on Oppo last year. I’d get one but that would only confirm to my wife that I have something wrong in the head.

That's half the fun though!

Modified is an understatement. It’s a group S rally prototype. Here’s an article.
