Well, I want another A6. I’ve tried to like the Jetta, I really have. It’s just not my kind of car. Simple as that. The A6 would literally do everything the Jetta can* except better.
You lot don’t even understand how much I liked that A6. I fucking loved that car. I miss you A6, but at least the new owner is going to fix you.

*Can’t do trunk space and fuel economy as good

You should not get a black interior based on the fact that I do not like them.

It's the same for me with the Cruze. Damn right I'm getting a suburban next.

Yup and both of us came from large fancy cars.

I can’t do beige though.
The A6 had one, the B7 A4 had one. The B5 did not.

Trunk space and fuel economy. Those are pretty big things, dude.

I don’t drive that much and I don’t regularly transport dead hookers so they aren’t concerns for me.

Why not just wait for an A7 to depreciate a little more?
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:02 |

Another idea

If you can make it fit into your budget and lifestyle, why not go get one?
Life is too short to drive boring cars.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:06 |

The Jetta isn’t boring, but it’s “dull” if you catch my drift. It’s turbocharged, manual and has GLI suspension and yet it’s still no fun to drive.
I can definitely make one fit, but I feel like I’d miss driving manual and can’t do two cars at once. But I’d rather have an automatic DD. Oh so many decisions.

Now, only if an A6 came in a manual..

I have an 2010 A6 that’s a trim level down from the one you’re looking at and I absolutely love it. I can only imagine it would be better with more features. Drives fantastic and actually gets pretty good gas mileage on the highway. But if you’re doing city driving, forget about it. I still highly recommend the car though.

Ooooh even with the 3.0t?
I didn’t know you had one, haha
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:10 |

My 2.7t A6 was manual, but I could live without manual.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:14 |

Yeah I’ve got the 3.0T. It’s a wonderful engine. Slightly detubed version of what they put in the S4 if I’m not mistaken.

How do you like it overall? I’m really considering one.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:38 |

I’ll try and be as unbiased towards it as I can. The car rides very smooth. You won’t feel very many bumps. There’s plenty of power. It can really get up and go if you want it to. It’s great for long drives. I’ve driven for 3 hours at a time without getting even slightly uncomfortable. You can actually get a lot in the car if you really try. The trunk is good but as with any sedan there is not an enormous amount of space. I usually just put bigger items on the back seats. Throttle response is a bit iffy. It is fine, but it can feel like it takes the car a second to register throttle input. But at the same time, it is not a big enough of a delay to be a major issue. Speaking of issues, the car is German so I’ve had a few problems, nothing serious though. The wires for one of the indicator lights on the front bumper were loose and if you hit a bump it would stop/start working. There have been several issues with anything relating to the tires. I got a flat tire at one point and then another tire got weird bubbles on it. Not sure if that has anything to do with the tires themselves or if was just because of a pothole or something. The tire pressure monitor may have recently broken. It keeps telling me that the tires are underflated even though they aren’t. I needed to replace the brakes pads a few months after I got it, but since then there haven’t been any issues with them. It also has been telling me that a service is due ever since the first time that I got it serviced. Other than that, I haven’t had any issues. Personally, I really like the car, but I would take it for a spin if you haven’t already and make sure it’s what you’re really after. But to answer your question, yes, I really like it overall. It’s a great car and I enjoy driving it.

Thanks for the info!
I’d get a throttle sprint thingy if I got one. They improve throttle response on these cars. My friend with a B8 A4 has one and it works nicely for him.

Well his name IS Silent Bob

I found out I can’t. But I don’t live in DC so maybe I don’t know true pain.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:46 |

I’ve never actually owned a car without a manual transmission, I’m warming up to it a bit more because traffic though.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:48 |

I think it’s like: for “I have to do shit in town,” automatic is acceptable, but for like, “Let’s get in the car and go somewhere!” you wish it were manual. Solution? You need TWO cars!
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:52 |
|
I know, but I only have one parking spot.
Like, when I’m out in the country I love driving manual because I actually can have fun doing it. I try to get out to the country as much as possible, but I live and work in DC so I can’t really do that often.
But when I’m driving anywhere in the DC area it’s absolutely horrible.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:54 |

Yeah I know the feeling. I work in the Seattle area which is known for awful traffic, and I was so sure I was going to buy an automatic and just be fine with it, but I ended up with another manual. I fear next time it will be an auto.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:56 |

At first, I thought I was going to get an automatic truck and a fun manual something. But that’s not going to really work anymore, so I just need to get something that’ll get the job done and will actually satisfy what I want in a car.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 19:59 |

That’s a good call. You can bedgrudingly own something when you have a Caravan full of children later.

I only want two little animals luckily, I shall never own a minivan. EVER.

Seriously one of the prettiest cars. Understated yet elegant
![]() 05/11/2016 at 20:21 |

Totally agree, love the way they look.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 20:23 |

And one day I want one with the V10 for a crescendo of euphoria for my ears.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 20:24 |

Yup, I must have one of those haha.
I like the 4.2 V8, the 3.0t and the magnificent V10.

Tell me more, really like the A6 and the generation following yours. Just so good looking. How is it to drive and how reliable is it?
![]() 05/11/2016 at 21:14 |
|
What did you tease us with the other day then?!?! I thought you bought one.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 21:16 |

Oh, I was just fucking around haha. Somebody I know bought one and I stole it for a couple days.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 21:17 |

Well damn. I must have missed that part.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 21:54 |

It drives very well. Very smooth and comfortable, but it can still corner well. It’s no Miata, and I haven’t pushed it’s limits, but it does actually grip pretty well. In terms of reliability, the only issues I’ve had are what I told jkm7680. I haven’t had any problems with the engine, suspension, computer, etc.
![]() 05/11/2016 at 22:06 |

Awesome, thanks. I've driven my friends A7 with the 3.0t, and it's a fantastic engine, what kind of mileage do you see?
![]() 05/11/2016 at 22:34 |

Around 18 in the city if I’m lucky and around 26 on the highway
![]() 05/11/2016 at 22:48 |

Wow, that's not bad at all. Not too far off from my 335i.

Did you ever get the C6 Avant in the US?
![]() 05/12/2016 at 08:05 |
|
Yes!
I think you can even get one with the 4.2, except they're really rare.

The C6 has aged so damn well. I want one.
