Any recommendations? Sub-$50 preferred. V8 powered would be a nice plus, but not a requirement.

I have this one and it’s awesome. It’s on sale right now too, right in your price range! We’ve had it for three years now, used nearly daily, and it still creates the perfect grind whether for our drip, french press or keurig.

Came here for this.

What about 1 cylinder powered?

V8?
Wouldn’t a 5 HP motor work?

I have a Capresso and think it’s great. You can find them for around $50, though retail for the Capresso Infinity is closer to $75 or $80. Still, worth it. Whatever you choose, spend the extra money and get a burr grinder. The difference between the Capresso and the Cuisinart someone else suggested will be minor, but a burr grinder works so much better than a cheap blade grinder.

I am using a manual grinder at work for my french press. It give really consistent grinds. http://www.amazon.com/DuraCasa-Manua… It is a bit more work than dumping beans and hitting a button, I admit.

Unless you need fancy shit, just go with a simple Krups. They’re the best, they’re easy, and they’re almost literally bullet proof. You can grind fine enough for Turkish coffee simply by holding the button down for longer.

I just use a Krups F203.

But that Cuisinart one Nibbles put up is nice! Multiple settings is a sweet feature.

The Cuisinart I mentioned is a burr grinder...

Yes. The grammar may be odd, but what I was trying to say is that the Capresso and Cuisinart are both burr grinders therefore the differences will be minor, whereas getting a blade grinder is a step down. Clarity fail on my part.

I saw this at Walmart the other day. It’s a burr grinder.

Ah, got ya. I misread:

It would seem this could fit the requirements. Sub-$50, potentially V8 powered.

That’s not bad, particularly at that price point!

$15, available at finer Wal•Marts everywhere. I used a fancier Hamilton Beach grinder for many years. I liked the older one better, because it had a slightly larger grind cup and you were less likely to spill coffee on the counter. But this works just fine, and the price is right. However, I don’t expect it to last as long as the first one I had.

There a capresso burr grinder in that price range that works (listed higher but you can typically score a sale or a coupon). I’ll try to find a model, mines so old it’s worn off.

There’s only one answer, though sadly not at your preferred price.
Meet the Peugeot of grinders.
No longer made by the same company though.

I’ve been using a cheapo Mr. Coffee to grind beans for my French press every morning for about seven years with no issues. It grinds them fine enough for my Italian coffee maker as well.

Since the obvious joke has been taken, may I suggest my best friend trying to drive a stick?

Get a cheap ceramic manual burr grinder. I use it at home, and while camping. It’s brilliant.

That's the one that's dying! It's lasted about five years, which ain't bad.

Under $50? Save yourself the hassle and get another one of those little blade grinders. If you are serious about coffee, get the Capresso Infinity. It’s what I have and it’s great. Runs about $100.

Well, there you go. The bigger version of this grinder lasted me about 15 years. I guess you get what you pay for.

My parents have been using the same grinder for as long as I can remember. You literally cannot kill these.

I’ve had mine since 2009. My parents have had theirs for at least 5 years longer. Not a single issue.
