Didn’t these go into the Volvo 140-series? Always wanted to see if it is
that

Yes, the 35 and 65 went into all manner of cars - various British models, Ford and GM (until they built their own), Saab, Citroen and more.
I guess they weren’t so bad in bigger cars when you had more power available and the percentage losses were less.

Talked to a guy that had compared two 144's, one manual M40 and one with the BW35, and apparently it was hard to notice much of a difference. Think they both had the B18 engine as well, might be even less difference with the B20.

So that’s why they need a flush, to remove all the lost power that accumulated in the transmission fluid!
