Sorry $kay
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:11 |

lightweight
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:11 |

That is one curvaceous key.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:13 |

new or old?
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:13 |

Poor key fob shape 2/10 would not drive
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:14 |

Is that an impulse buy?
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:15 |

Does it really matter?
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:16 |

I’m going to assume you mean the 2005 GT because my Mustang’s key is prettier than that. That’s the same FOB that all Ford cars used in the 2000s.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:17 |

I wish.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:17 |

New.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:19 |

Key doesn’t matter to me. I wouldn’t care if it were a skeleton key.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:19 |
|
Really? I prefer keys like this. Plus cheaper to replace.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:22 |
|
It having a skeleton key would make it 100% more badass.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:23 |
|
Would be pretty sweet actually.
Anyone building a rat rod- make this happen hahaha
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:24 |

Looks like and old Fiesta keyfob.
They should try a new approach to lighweght keys like Porsche did in the 60s
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:27 |
|
the old was probably jsut as pedestrian, straight from the ford parts bin
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:28 |
|
if this didn’t have the FORD GT logo, you could say it’s a key for your 1996 Taurus and nobody would question you.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:30 |

Ford’s response
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:30 |

Wow that almost looks like the key and fob that the Windstar at work had 10 years ago. Minus the nifty Ford GT lettering.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:31 |
|
That was the same key fob that came with my 1998 Escort.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:32 |
|
Oh god really? THAT is the key to a $450,000 car?!?
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:32 |
|
There is nothing wrong with that.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:32 |
|
That’s the same key fob my dad’s 2001 f250 used. Also: you have ford GT keys? Do you have the car those keys go to?
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:33 |
|
Welllllll, the answer is “old.” The 2005/2006 Ford GT is the “old” GT.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:33 |
|
You’re right!
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:34 |
|
Great idea!
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:35 |
|
I assumed by old he meant GT40 haha
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:35 |
|
2005/6 new, not 2016. My bad
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:36 |
|
I don’t me real gt40's I meant early 2000's or new new. haha
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:39 |
|
My escort from 1998 didn’t have a key. Unless you count cash of course.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:43 |
|
The good old standard Ford key fob.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:44 |
|
Obviously a car from the 1960s doesn’t have a FOB. Lol
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:52 |
|
Does it have that cool green LED readout on the radio, too? #partsbin
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:53 |
|
Exactly the same as the Ford Fiesta (Brazilian market)
Now everytime I have to drive my mother in law’s Fiesta I’ll know the ignition key is the same as the Ford GT, lolololol
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:54 |
|
I was extremely confused, honestly.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:56 |
|
Ahh gotcha! Gonna have to hand in my Jalop card for the day, I forgot about the “real” GT
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:57 |

It looks like my old04 zx5 key
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:58 |

looks like my old zx5 key
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:58 |

same as my 04 zx5 key
![]() 05/04/2016 at 16:58 |
|
ah! ok.. still super sad.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 17:00 |
|
Forget a $450000 car, I’d be worried if that was the key and fob to a new Kia.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 17:16 |
|
My 05 Focus has the same.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 17:23 |
|
Yup, that’s they key to my grandma’s $2500 Contour
![]() 05/04/2016 at 17:37 |
|
Look like the same Fob as our Sable...
![]() 05/04/2016 at 17:51 |

I actually don’t think it’s disappointing, at the end of the day it’s a Ford albeit quite a rare and special Ford but a Ford nevertheless. It pretty much represents the company that built it, powerful V-8s, no frills and straight forward and reliable mechanicals. You want to look all fancy with your key fob? Buy a Ferrari. The Ford GT has it where it matters and needs nothing else. There are two ways to show off power, being over the top and with the bite to match the bark or the sleeping giant route where the impact comes from where you least expect it.
This is a key to launch an ICBM, pretty disappointing right? It’s not the key that is important but what that key goes to.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 18:05 |
|
That’s the best part. Nobody is going to be looking for a parts bin key and key fob to steal.
![]() 05/04/2016 at 18:06 |
|
It was the same for every Ford of that era, the family Windstar had it, my friend’s Ford F truck from high school had it!

Same fob used in literally ever single Ford before 2007.
