Of the four Star franchises: Trek, Wars, Gate, and Search; Trek is easily my third favorite. /cbg

hahahaha. fair enough. But the core message and the general tone of the universe (no looking at you JJ) is that of logic, peace and unity. over coming tribulation and adversity with philosophical approach and logical resolve, violence of course being a last resort. There’s values, philosophy and moral that out weigh the black and white good vs evil of star wars.

And in turn, I take the “logic, peace, and unity” approach to be half-witted and immature in the college bong session manner more often than not, and critical elements of societal function being poorly thought out or ignored. Take for example, one of the “wonders of the holodeck” type episodes which featured a man painting a wall happily “because what he sees, is that he’s painting a beautiful picture!” What. I do not have enough whats or fucks to what the fuck sufficiently for that what the fuck. In terms of what people like to do, psychology of work and reward, and a thousand other things it is simply and utterly loony.
In the mean time, the ethics of Star Wars are consistently and comically simplistic and flawed, but the slices of life tend to ring truer. In my opinion. I love both Star Wars and Star Trek, but TNG’s philosophizing hat was often a dunce cap, and it’s a mistake to claim otherwise. On that front, give me DS:9 - though I prefer the characters, story arcs, and optimism of TNG completely.

OH, ok. You’re one of them DS:9 guys. I’m tapping out, hahaha. TNG or DIE!

I enjoy watching TNG more, usually. It’s just more often dumberer.
