What the hell does AVC10 mean?
What about GSE30?
The numbering makes sense but…the letters...

AVC = A Very Car
GSE = Gimme Special Enchiladas

I guess. And plus there aren’t enough models in the Lexus range to get confused over.

I will say that some Toyota’s are known by chassis code. Land cruiser, MR2, Celica’s and a few others. Throw out ST205, Aw11 or Fj62 and people know what you mean.

The engine family, chassis platform, and then the generation (number part). Even as a Toyota fan, I have no idea why they did it like that instead of just GRXE30. For some reason, Toyota thinks X+Z=C and R+X=S. A GR engine in an XE30 is GSE30 and I don’t know why!
I used to own an MCV10 and a VZV20 ;)

Thats what I like about the Toyota code system...it actually tells you something. 3S-GTE = 3rd engine in the S family - G head (wide angle Yahama head) Turbocharged Electronic fuel injection.

LS people know UCF10, UCF20, UCF30. It falls apart after that, because they decided to call the LS460 USF40 for some reason.
