Not giant Toblerones, that’s for sure.
Oh, they are giant Toblerones.
No they’re not! I ordered a couple of new gas-charged hood lifts because mine were broken.
It was an easy swap. The new ones are stronger than the old ones!
Old vs new

Spoiler alert? Was going to guess an SC400 anyways.

You get right back out there and don’t come back until you have some giant Toblerones.

Awesome. Our new Odyssey has a prop rod. I didn’t know those still existed. To be fair, it’s a really small, aluminum hood. But still the first time I've owned a car with one of those since high school in the 90s.

My brother’s F-150 has both gas shocks and a prop rod, but the prop rod isn’t long enough if the hood is open all the way.

My dad’s 2015 Fit has a prop rod. Surprisingly, it doesn’t have a cassette player.

Damnit, Hondabro... now I want Toblerones.
I swear, I gain five pounds every time I read your posts. So much talk of kebabs and candy that I get the munchies.

What brand?! If they’re Stabilus then we can continue to be internet friends, but if it’s that StrongArm crap... -_-

My cars only have prop rods *sad trombone*
![]() 05/03/2016 at 17:16 |

Nothing to be sad about. If they're older and/or cheap/light/enthusiast rides, it's totally normal. My frustration is when you spend nearly $40k on a modern, mainstream car (ironically with power liftgate, seats, and sliding doors) and the hood is a manual job :D

My old ones were Stabilus! And it turns out that my local Honda dealership uses StrongArms anyway.

Cheap ass dealerships. lol
In case you haven’t clued in yet, Stabilus is one of my company’s brands. haha

Check, Check, Check. ‘12 Routan.
Though the G6 is officially older (‘08), cheap (though BB of it with 90k is surprisingly more than I anticipated) it is in no way light nor is it a typical enthusiast ride.

And Fram oil filters as OEM.
But these lifts have good reviews, and I’ll be selling the car anyway, so it won’t affect me if they break later down the road.
