April 30, 2014. My Fiesta ST was finally delivered to Fox Ford in Grand Rapids, MI. 43,300 miles later, here we are. Still love her to death. Treated her to a wash, a “clay bar”, a Polish, and a wax this morning before the rains. All I have to say is the eagle one fine detailing mitt is infinitely better than a clay bar. Got off so much grime and fine dirt from constant construction zones.....
We’re going shoe shopping soon. I’m thinking some new Firestone Indy 500s (not wide oval) and an alignment would be nice. Oh and she had her oil changed yesterday too. Pennzoil’s latest full synthetic is quite nice IMO. Good stuff. Buy a couple quarts. Enjoying a good rye while the rains fall. Have a couple of pics

Thanks! I tried a new wax this morning and it gave me some troubles at first since it was a spray wax but it came together nicely by the end.

I recently had a Fiesta with the 1.0 EcoBoost for a week. that certainly is an interesting experience.

Ha, I’m going there on monday for work. We have a plant down there and I need to do some safety inspections. The fiesta will be down there at like 9 am.

A bike back there. What is it?

1985 honda nighthawk 650. Currently waiting for the rain to stop so I can put the front tire back on properly and finish the brakes and turn signals.

I hate you. I love kona blue. I taught a driving school and parked next to a kona blue mustang. My envy was real.

Very nice.
happy birthday FiST.
Clay bars are old news. Clay mitts, pads and towels are re-useable, very long lasting and far more economical.

It was actually fairly close between that and magnetic, but blue won.

Saw the word “Polish” and thought: he bought the car a sausage?

Yes. ANd some pierogis. There’s a Polish hall just down the street. Turns out their kielbasa grease is about 91 octane.

Fairway started carrying various varieties of pierogies in the refrigerator case. I am so on board.

Agreed. That clay mitt was amazing on so many levels too. And it was the same price as a clay bar.

nice i see quite a few around town

Always best to break them in by using them on the glass first so they don’t micro-marr the paint on first use.
Clay is so problematic, kneading, folding, if dropped has to be thrown away, limited life, etc... I’m amazed anyone still uses it.

Eh, I used it on the front bumper first that already has enough chips and stone damage. I need to pick up some touchup paint to hit some spots on my front and sides. Rallycross takes its toll on the stock paint :/

I saw that mitt last time when I was at AA. I have been using a clay block, but I think the mitt will be easier and more convenient to use so I will be picking one up once my block dies. The Eagle One mitt looks especially attractive because it costs about $25-$30 less than the Nanoskin, Griot’s, etc... counterparts.
I still have a little clay, but use it mostly on wheels.

Ah-yes ‘road-rash’, the bain of any properly used motor vehicle.

Worth it. And to be fair, some of it came from doing 4000 miles in 5 days out west. Storming through beartooth pass and cruising through yellowstone isn’t the same as parking in a multi-story garage. It’s about 1.7 million times better.

I don’t know if it is the “best” mitt, but it did exactly as advertised and I got my car done in about 15 minutes. But I do recommend springing the extra 7$ for the detailer/spot shine/mitt lube. For tricky spots I would spray a little heavier and let it soak. Then spray a bit more and go at it with the mitt.

It’s what I would pick in a situation where I was to drive a slow car fast. You definitely feel the difference in low-end twist compared to the base 1.6.
Though I really, really don’t care for the sound of a three-cylinder. the engine note makes it sound like it’s really unhappy with what you’re asking it to do.
though in comparison, it’s a rocket ship compared to the Ka with the non-turbo 1.0 3-banger. That car is... not quick. The Ka is a “city car,” so it’s geared appropriately. The driving style is best described as “put it in first, clutch out, floor it. shift to 2, floor it. Shift to 3, floor it. Shift to 4, floor it. etc. And it was screaming at almost 4000 rpm at 70 mph.

Bleh. The 1.6T is pretty meaty as is. But I would like to try the 1.0T and see how it does in freeway passing. But I agree a non turbo 1.0 would be hazardous to drive in something even close to fiesta sized with the way modern traffic flows.

I've got PLENTY of detail sprays in the garage right now lol
