![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:25 |

Cleaned things?
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:25 |

Evo X was still a 5 speed.
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:26 |

Something to do with fuel economy or whatever. The gears are all really tall, so I don’t have a need for a 6th gear really.
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:26 |

Sorta
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:27 |

Flat bottom steering wheel? GTi?
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:28 |

I’ve cheated and had a look at the rest of the answers, and you put new pedals on.

Looks almost exactly like my friend’s GLi interior. Minus the Five speed, and white seats

usually (but not always) when a car changes from a 5 speed to a 6 speed, the top gear ratio is pretty much the same; the rest of the ratios are just closer together.
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:32 |
|
They’re preeeety similar,
Different climate control in the GLi, different SW, different various other stuff. But pretty close to the naked eye.

![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:52 |

I can still see the blue stain.
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:53 |
|
that was due to Mitsu’s inability to make a good 6 speed manual if i’m not mistaken...
![]() 04/30/2016 at 13:53 |
|
It’s not there anymore at all, it looks blueish on camera, but in the car you can’t see it.

BOOOOOOOOOOSH

Best scene in Raising Arizona ....
![]() 04/30/2016 at 14:40 |

because the six speeds always broke. more parts in same size area. 5 speeds you can make the gears stronger and bigger
![]() 04/30/2016 at 14:43 |
|
Yeah. Because they didn’t have the cash to dump into it like Subaru.
![]() 05/01/2016 at 17:34 |

Looks good. Cheated and read the responses to see they were pedal caps. I did the same on my old tdi (also did the dead pedal).
I would’ve guessed either pedal caps or the black steering wheel bit (as i know some vw folk like to swap that out.
![]() 05/01/2016 at 17:36 |
|
Makes it look much more high end. :P
The black SW bit was stock on the ‘16 models with the leather wrapped wheel IIRC.

100% agree. Honestly it’s amazing how little things like that can change the feel of the interior.
I hated the brick of a shift knob on the mk5 DSG (2010 jetta tdi) and swapped that out for a mk6 shift knob which required some heatgun modification to make it work. After that swap though felt like such a clean classy ride.
My mk5 had the pianoblack faux carbon fiber beltline trim and i wrapped the entirety of that in brushed aluminum vinyl (emulating the gti and gli interior) and it made a night and day difference in how the inside of that car looked. Really funny to think about honestly as now i’m in the mk7 gti and it also has that piano black faux c/f trim everywhere.

For sure, I can’t wait to do more stuff to the interior haha.
