Basically he thinks that the salesman is making up the fact that another dealership is requesting the car in order to get him to move toward a contract faster.

Nope. As fishy as it seems, customers would be shocked to learn just how often cars are traded between dealerships; especially in the luxury segment.

I was surprised to learn that when I started working in the aftermarket accessories business. If you’re ever at a dealer in the morning and see a bunch of older guys around the coffeemaker, wearing ball caps and t-shirts, they’re probably there to transfer a car.

I guess it makes sense. The shady dealers have given all dealers the reputation of being, well, shady. I don’t think there is a way to phrase that statement without coming across like you could be embellishing. But telling someone to GFY doesn't help either.

I was a salesman for a whIle at a Chrysler dealer. From what I saw, I’m guessing this customer has been burned at some other dealer or two. It’s hard to find an honest one.

I work as a cashier in the Chevy dealer. Yes, its super common. I have to hand out cash to about 5 guys in normal clothes who just do dealer trades all day. I want that job.
