Honda called the base model Civic the “STD” for awhile, don’t think they actually badged the car that way though.

The Isuzu Giga and Mazda Titan both came in a “Dump” trim/configuration.. not Dump Truck.. Just Dump.
Oh, and the Toyota TRD always makes me skicker. Why would you want a Toyota Turd.

In the same way that LX and LE are abbreviations for Luxury and Limited Edition, yes.

If I had a Corolla S, I would totally stick that on the trunk. Of course, I’d probably also shoot myself shortly afterward.

I’ll also submit one of my own cars, the Honda Prelude Si ALB. For some reason Honda went with its own abbreviation for anti-lock brakes instead of the universal ABS.

How about the Kia Soul ! ?
The only car that shouts at you, literally. I love Kia, but man, they come up with some stupid names (Cee’d? Really Kia??)

The universal acronym didn’t appear until after Honda used theirs, and Honda switched eventually.

Don’t know about trim, but if I had an Impala, I’d do this.

You’re right, Honda did switch to “ABS” by 1992. For some reason I thought the ABS acronym had already been well established before the ALB came (1990), but I could easily be wrong, especially if the Legend had it prior to then.

I just saw a corolla VE, I thought it said V6 and got confused. Still don't know what it means.

My mom had a green manual ZTW. It was supposed to be my first car when they bought it, when I was 12. But when I was 15 my Dad decided my Mom needed AWD so they traded it in for an Escape. I’m still mad, that car was awesome. Although It probably rusted away shortly after they traded it, so really I shouldn’t be mad.
