I put together this poll.
I’d like to see what Oppo thinks is considered an exotic or not.
All the choices are taken from comments from the Jalopnik article.

The Corvette...
Will never...
Be...
Exotic.

Not. One.
![]() 04/22/2016 at 11:54 |

But a lot of people think it is. That’s why it’s on the poll.

A lot of people spell bumper as bumber, doesn’t mean we should the correct spelling.

The Elise currently has more votes than the Hennessey Venom.

Exactly. The whole point of the ‘Vette is that it’s a blue-collared, middle American muscle car that can go head to head with a good bit of supercars.
It’s not supposed to be exotic, at all, that’s the whole point of it.

Makes sense to me.

exotic killer is a way better title :]

The Elise is made by a real car company. The Hennessey Venom is a custom Exige.

Dictionary.com defines exotic as: “strikingly unusual or strange in effect or appearance.” So an exotic car is therefore anything that makes non-gearheads take notice. Price or speed doesn’t matter.
A 911 or Corvette is just “some Porsche/Corvette, nothing special.” They’re common, usual occurrences. They’re not exotic.
But an Elise sighting is typically accompanied by the phrase, “whoa, dude, is that a Ferrari?!?” People have no idea what it is and are completely unfamiliar with it, so it it by definition it is an exotic.
And I do consider the Polaris Slingshot exotic. Expensive or not, it’s the most noticeable vehicle on that list and would absolutely make non-gearheads double-take.

Is it wrong that I didn't click any of the boxes?
![]() 04/22/2016 at 12:30 |

Hope not, because I didn't click any either...

Tbh I tried to do this but after trying to decide for like 3 minutes I gave up.

That’s what I think as well, but styling is very subjective, so others may think differently.

Nope. I’m looking for an average opinion.

Same.

The disparity between the GT3 and GT4 is interesting.

That’s alright. I left out the obvious ones, just put in the ones that are debatable.

I’m going to post an analysis later.
Also I posted this poll to a few different places online to get a wider audience.

Ah, I see.
The closest on your list were both generations of the Ford GT, but for me country of origin plays the biggest role.
adjective: exotic
originating in or characteristic of a distant foreign country.

On second thought, I should have put a none of the above option, but it’s too late now.

I agree with 1 caveat - if GM ever makes the mid-engined Zora. That’d be exotic.

I kinda consider anything with a GT3 spec variant an exotic car, although that includes the Cadillac CTS-V, so I’m probably wrong.

I don’t consider any model exotic if there’s a more expensive non exotic model in the manufacturers lineup.
For example, you can spec a Silverado or Tahoe above a Corvette (non Z06) a Porsche Panamera over a GT3 or an S8 or W12 A8 over the V8 R8
