I cannot believe the love for this thing. I think it looks worse than the previous model from the outside. I mean interior is kinda nice if you pony up enough money, but base model isn’t very good.
The engine is pretty peppy though. Drove better than my Civic did. But I would buy a crazy discounted Cruze Limited first

At least the front’s better than that Malibu’s ridiculous scowl.

Did you read my article? I actually call it late to the game.

I mean it’s the same design in different sizes. The look works better with the Cruze’s proportions.

How much research did you put into this?
Claim that the Cruze is late to the party, but it’s had 41mpg since 2010.
Also the Cruze has had more buyers in the past five years than the last 3 generations of golfs...

I think the current Malibu look great, it’s just the front that really bugs me. This is a bit more of a smile, a-la-Bolt. Works much better.

Everything I’ve read about the new cruze is that while it may not be exemplary in any one area, the total package is exemplary. With a hatchback and hopefully an SS on it’s way, it has a chance to be a real heartbreaker to the status quo just like it’s Camaro and Corvette siblings

Technically the Eco wasn’t intoduced until 2011, and even then only manual models were rated above 40 mpg. And you’re right, if we look at design and sales numbers, it would be the Jetta That the Cruze goes head to head with. And youd find those numbers much more competitive. The Golfs are just icing on the cake. Crazy thing is every sale I ever lost to a Cruze while I was selling VWs was because Chevy was offering 5k+ off right up front. It didn’t happen very often, but some people simply prefer price over value.

I would be very interested to see an SS. But what would make it any different from what is already out there? My point is that if you have to sell a car by saying “we do That too” you’re on the wrong end of the curve.

The first gen Cruze is actually a really good car. I had to get one recently, and I was the opposite of souped about it. 3000 miles later, and the little thing has just about won me over. I hate small cars in general, but not this one.

If you don’t mind me asking, howd you end up with one of it wasn’t what you wanted to get?

My car broke, I couldn’t keep throwing money at it, needed a warranty, the Cruze can’t be beat as far as features to cost ratio goes.

The hatch with the turbo 4 out of the ATS, decent brakes and magnaride shocks could be pretty nifty...

The cruze matches the best parts of all its competitors while being less expensive, no compromises when you buy the cruze, that’s the big innovation that only the more expensive honda can match

Right? A parts bin special in the best way possible!

When did VW start being considered good value?
![]() 04/21/2016 at 07:45 |

I would say VW has been about value since the start of the Mk5 generation. Where else could you get four wheel disc brakes, a standard list of interior safety features, and an engine that gutsy for $17k? Because that’s exactly what the Rabbit and Jetta offered.

A Mazda dealership.
Not that 4wheel discs did VW's of that era any good. Their braking performance was consistently poor.

I hate seeing these, esp. from the rear. What the fuck is going on in the “diffuser”?
What was wrong with the Asian market bumper chevy?

Which is why I lease one as my DD...they’re great little cars.

I wouldn't call it great, but it has nice features, gets good mileage, and the RS seats and body kit are nice.

Ones a diffuser. Ones a confuser.

Actually Most of the airbags That were standard on the Rabbit were cost options on Mazdas of that vintage.
