Head’s up for anyone in the market for a new BMW in Texas - we got hit with some baseball-sized hail here in San Antonio on Tuesday night. Apparently BMW of SA got hit pretty hard and hundreds of cars are damaged. So in a few weeks when they get them fixed might be a chance to get a good deal... Or a dealer to avoid depending on your point of view. Pictures of carnage at the link which may or may not get Kinja’d into broken embed purgatory.

Dimples help golf balls. Maybe they’ll help the bmw the golfer drives as well?

Sounds like a good deal. My second Miata had hail dimples on the hood and trunk. That’s how I got it for cheap - it was a rebuilt salvage that never gave me any trouble.

I’m in San Antonio but didn’t get any hail where I live. My GTI is under a carport but NY E30 isn’t. I really should consider getting a spot for it as well.

Yeah it seemed to be pretty localized. I live out past Scenic Loop on highway 16 and we just got a little bit of marble-sized stuff, but just a mile or two closer to town they got it really bad. We get big hail often enough that I consider having a plan for covering your car a necessity here. After getting some hail dings when we last lived in an apartment, I made sure to buy a house with a 2-car garage that we keep space for 2 cars clear in. But even just having a futon mattress handy to throw on top of the car works well.

Thanks for the tip, just moved here a few months ago so I have yet to experience the hail. Hell the severity of the thunderstorms takes getting used to out here.
