A few months ago someone smashed a window and grabbed the Garmin 2555LMT I bought back in 2012. I thought I could just use my phone instead (iPhone 4S) but it’s a little smaller than I’d like. I’ve decided that I want another GPS, preferably about the same size (5") or larger and vintage (2012) as the one I lost.

At local thrift stores these used to be a dime a dozen; I remember one store had a basket full by the register, and I even purchased one for the receptionist at my last job for $12. Those days seem to be over, and finding a used one seems to be a challenge. I’m guessing this is now a dying market, kind of like VHS decks or DVD players.

Any suggestions as to where I can find one of these things on the cheap? If I get the job I interviewed for last week price won’t be too much of a concern, but if that doesn’t come through I’ll be packing it in and moving back to SoCal and would like to have it for the long drive back.

Upgrade to an iPhone 6S Plus and a dash mount. Nobody will steal it and you’ll never forget it...

I was going to suggest “A parking lot” but it looks like somebody beat me to the punch.

If you’re on NextDoor for your neighborhood I’ve had a ton of luck getting obsolete things by just posting “Anyone got an XXXX they’re looking to get rid of?”. Lots of people don’t want to throw away old stuff but’ll jump at the chance to give it to someone local whose willing to use it.
