The GT350 starts at $47,795. Much like the last Ford GT, this thing is priced way too cheap for its market value! Seriously, what is the next lowest priced vehicle that you would rather have? For me, the $61,295 GT350R is the only thing better right now.
Hate to say it, but I don’t think a $5,000 to $8,000 markup is unreasonable right now. However, my living is selling premium products to stores, so high market value and pricing opportunity are kind of where my bias lies.
For me currently, I would assess the GT350 as a $54,000 vehicle, right in line with a basic Corvette, 4C, or M2. The GT350R kills all those though at its current price and I would call it a solid $70k car. In fact, I think the current ZL1 and Z/28 should have their prices switched with the GT350 and GT350R respectively! Until I see the pricing on the upcoming ZL1 and Corvette Grand Sport, I say the markups on the Shelbys are completely justified (below $9K over MSRP).

Funny you should mention the 4C-even with its small engine and lack of any features I think it could sell for more than $55k.
The Tesla Model S is the future. It could maybe sell for more than it does. Certainly it could if it had a Mercedes badge.

Would rather have to ecoboost

Definitely not Porsche or Hellcat markups, I can tell you that. I found a GT3 RS on Autotrader now that's at least 50k over MSRP and some examples on eBay were simply ridiculous

I could have sworn I thought the 4c sold for $70k. If I had the budget for a $55k car I’d honest to god be slipping into my jeans and waltzing my ass into a Maserati/Alfa dealer right now.

A Prius

M2 would be my first choice sub $55k. It’s the right size. The GT350 is a great value, but it’s too big for me.

V60 Polestar starts at 61k. So it’s GT350R or crazy Volvo wagon. I’m leaning towards the Polestar with my imaginary 61 grand.

Agreed on both accounts. I actually think the 4C could run the same price as the Z06 and I wouldnt think anything of it! It comes across as the cheapest Ferrari and most refined and mint decade old Lotus Elise in existence. It’s so special it could run closer to $80k than $70k!

What i’d rather have:
E92 M3 lime rock park
E39 M5+E46 M3+track days
C6 Vette and tons of mods
911 Turbo
911 GTS
New STI+S2K track car
Etc.
It’s a fantastic car don’t get me wrong, but there’s a ton of other options. I’m not looking to buy one so its super easy for me to pick other cars lol.

Yeah, I can’t believe the Porsche market. I don’t mind the Hellcats because I’m still worried about them becoming accessible to more people. The markup is the only thing keeping kids on crosswalks safe right now!

The GT350 must still be priced below the GT350R and any future GT500.
The GT350 is the successor to the S197 Boss 302 and is priced accordingly

That’s a hell of a comparison! I never thought of that and I’m ashamed of myself!

Doesn’t the regular GT run similar to the regular Boss though (according to Ford marketing)? Much in the way the new Camaro SS benchmarked the GT350 causing Ford to make magnetic ride and some other stuff standard?

Do you want a crazy wagon or crazy coupe? That’s basically the question there.

Performance wise yes, but all trims have gotten faster

A lot of people get that mixed up. I think thats because the initial limited edition ones were that much. IIRC those were completely loaded up.

Interior volumes must be similar though

The 2 series interior feels less cramped than the current mustang. Not sure if thay is actually the case, though.

The interior is what does the GT350 in. Most of the GT350s they sell will be premium trim.

Something tells me the GT350 will stop being marked up when the new 1LE wipes the floor with it.
The base SS Camaro is lighter and faster in a straight line... Ford is playing catch up, and from discussions I've had with engineering in Dearborn, they know it.

Okay, so that’s where I was getting the $70k figure from. Man, now I just to work even harder and get a 4C. :(
![]() 04/07/2016 at 00:43 |

Except that the GT350 will stomp on a Camaro SS in a straight line and on a track. It’s faster than the Z/28.

Did someone say crazy coupe?

If this car came out about 20 years later in my life I’d for sure have one.
Spot on price, performance, noise and looks.

It’s because the Stangs have historically been known to be a crappy car with a big engine. The cars are better now, but they still can't shake that stigma and ask for top dollar for the thing.
![]() 04/07/2016 at 07:13 |

No, the 2016 Camaro SS has both a faster 0-60 time and a quarter mile time according to Motor Trends testing.
Yes the GT350 marginally is faster around the track than the old Z/28. The new 1LE should be faster than the old Z/28 and cheaper than the GT350. It is 200+ lbs lighter than the old Z/28 and only down 40hp with better suspension geometry and MR shocks.
I sat through an entire meeting where all a Ford engineer did was bitch and moan about how for the first time since its inception the Camaro is lighter than the Mustang. Ford has some catching up to do. Even they know it.

so its people like you that ok the dealer mark up
no, its not OK

I agree, the screaming V8 is awesome but I prefer a shorter wheelbase. Voodoo powered M2 on the other hand...
