Hey Oppo, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, so I thought this would be the best way to catch up on things and what I’ve been working on and been driving/flipping.
First off, I’m slowly but surely putting together a new site for enthusiasts. Think what Oppo used to be. More long-form, well written posts, car reviews, project updates and less personal problems, short throwaway posts. We’re still working on layout, but I’ll announce when it’s up.
Also, as a car-flipper, my stable is ever changing. Last I had posted, I drove a 2006 Subaru WRX STi, 1999 Chevy Corvette and an 2008 Scion xB.
All of those have sold. I stopped flipping for a couple months while settling in a new city, owning one 2011 Mazda 3 Hatch. I got bored quickly so now I’m back in the game.
So here’s the current stable.
2009 Chevy Cobalt SS
1998 Jeep Wrangler 4.0
1984 Mazda RX-7 V8 Project
1996 Mazda Miata
2003 Nissan 350Z
I’m still looking for more stuff. Have a few things I’m looking at. But feel free, ask anything. What I’m doing, looking at, what I did look at but didn’t buy or whatever comes to mind.
Thanks!

How about instead of getting an engine, you stick Jake in the engine bay of the Z and pay him by the mile to run you places, rickshaw style?
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:17 |

Your Cobalt is missing the lip on the front bumper.

How is the 350z to drive? I’m considering it (s2000, G35 and e36 M3 are also in the running) for the future hopefully.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:17 |

Cause he’ll find a way to break it further and complain about it.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:18 |

That’d be cheaper. You’d probably just have to feed him some....
...thing
What do people eat in Kansas anyways?
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:20 |

Whatever goes in silos? Cracked corn? Wheat? Something else farmer-y and flavorless?

The 350Z I actually bought with a blown engine last week. I’ll have to report back when it’s done.
I have had an S2000 before, it’s a very nice car, especially on the used market. There are things it doesn’t excel at though, like highway driving, comfortable ride and low end torque. I’m not much a BMW fan after having a BMW 330i, but I wouldn’t belittle anyone for buying one.

Sure is.

What V8 is going in the RX7?
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:23 |
|
SHEEP TESTICLES- that’s what they eat. Just dangle some wooly balls under the hood every now and again, and he’ll be fine.

5.0 HO. The previous owner intended to do an LS swap, but gave up.
Before I get the hate-storm, the 5.0 is about 3x cheaper for the engine and the install process. You can use the stock crossmember and flip is 180 degrees.
Honestly, I’m probably just going to sell it and maybe buy another one that’s had the swap done, but not finished. I bought this one for $200 and sold the louvers off it for $150, so I could just flip it for profit easy.

Well... I’m having baked chicken for dinner...

Want to flip my Car? Runs & drives, that’s worth something.

What are your thoughts on master flipper Tavarish?
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:30 |
|
By the look of it, I wouldn’t say a whole lot. Just depends on how much you want for it.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:32 |

Interesting.
I’ve riden in an s2000 a few times going very quickly. I think my only concern with it would be that I wouldn’t really put the top down that often and wasting the fact that it’s a roadster.

Bison burgers, bierocks, KC barbecue, fried chicken...

Must be a liberal use of the term.
I’m not a fan of the clickbait articles, but I haven’t really seen many of those lately. The seem to have phased out.
My goal isn’t to be the ‘only’ flipper. This isn’t a competition. We have different objectives, I believe. His goal is to flip an interesting car first and make the most profit second, whereas my priorities are the opposite. It just happens to be that interesting sports cars are what sell best ion the private market and what I like to drive. I don’t discourage him, but I think goading impressionable young readers into sketchy used German vehicles with the illusion of easy money is slightly unethical.
If diesel pickups were the secret easy profit maker, I’d have a whole fleet of those, but it’s not. He does his thing. I do mine. He’s lost money multiple times. I never have. I’ll let that speak for itself.

My dad’s the one that bought the louvers off of your rx7.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:38 |

I’m going to have to give it away or swap transmission then sell it. Syncros again.
Bought for $800 in 06 with 137k, it’s got 264k now. I’m thinking lemons, chump, or I could be evil & donate it to a church to give to a needy family.

If you had give Jayhawk Jake a rim job or wear a roller skate on your left foot only for 2 years, which would you choose?
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:41 |
|
Yeah, I went slightly the other way, putting the top down all the time just for the sake of having it down. I’m glad I owned it, but I don’t have an interest in convertible anymore.
My second-hand E36 M3 knowledge is that even nice one’s require more maintenance than other cars. I’ve driven a rough one before. They’re definitely fast.
For the same price bracket, my recommendation is probably a C5 Corvette. But it just depends on what your priorities are from a car.

Woah. Small world. Hope he’s happy with them.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:43 |
|
Yeah I’m sure it’s not surprise that it’s going to have a real low value. I don’t mean that to be rude. Lemons would be a real neat second life for it. I could offer something, but it would be low and I don’t want to insult.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:44 |

Easy. Roller skate. Make it ten years even.

Once they are repainted they are going on this

Pantera or Cobra Kit?
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:47 |
|
I was only kidding in the first place, just don't really look forward to selling it and idiots trying to buy a $500 car, asking where is the passenger seat & carpet
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:51 |
|
Oh sweet. Is that still rotary? I can’t tell
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:53 |
|
Ooooh. That’s good question. A Cobra Kit Car is generally cheap and the fact that it’s just a kit mean I would feel less guilty beating on it.
However I do love Panteras.
If the were same price, I have a real tough time choosing. I love them both.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:54 |
|
WEAK. Pick one!
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:54 |
|
Oh no worries. Yeah, the low end of the Craigslist market isn’t a fun crowd to deal with. It’s worth a shot; I’d just disclose everything in the ad.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:56 |
|
Fuck.
Cobra Kit Car. There is no car more terrifying and satisfyingly masculine at the same time. It’s a bull that you have to manhandle or it will defeat you. I love it.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:57 |
|
thats the correct answer.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 22:59 |
|
That means I’d have to type it all up. Just for fun, what’s you “best offer?” I won’t hold you too it. Although I gave thought of driving it to PA to get it reviewed by RCR if they'd have me, bring title, sell for a plane ticket home.
I don't have room for it or it would be my lemans car. 4 projects 2 DD & bike.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 23:03 |
|
Probably like $150-$200. I’d have to see it. Scrap value is probably more than my offer.
It’d be a real neat Lemons car, but we’ve already got one.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 23:04 |

Still got the 13b. He’s a real rotary purist.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 23:06 |

Very cool. Rotary isn’t my thing, but I respect it. Hope to see it around soon.

Oh, it's a sight to behold.

Bring it to C&C this weekend.

I’m in St. Louis I may bring it next one in StL though, with a for sale sign.

Ahhh, I just assumed the MO tag was for KCMO.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 23:57 |

Yo that reminds me, I told James I’m going to NYIAS the 2nd, but that was a mistake, I’m going the first, in case you or anyone else wants to meet up.

You had me until I saw the automatic. But that is a beautiful car.
![]() 03/25/2016 at 13:08 |

I would but 1) Saturday is when my AA homegroup meets, and B) my dad is filming that day so he can't go then.
