Considering entering the Dart in a rally cross.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I’m pretty sure the Ranger is too tall to run, so the Dodge is the next best choice (I’m ignoring my brother’s Fiesta and my mom’s Juke because they would kill me if I messed one of them up). But the Dodge is RWD and thrash able. It might make for some cool pictures.
Wrong Dart
My Dart:
Also, I have this guy halfway convinced to do it with me. Yes he daily drives an FJ40, and yes he drove it from Colorado here to NC for college.

Woah, for a second I missed the caption and was really confused, but I see nothing wrong with the opportunity given to you lol.

God please do this. These old darts are huuuuge and would be be a blast to rallyX

For the love of God please do.

Well, I’ve never done it before. I think I could maybe borrow a helmet there?
Also I’m home alone this weekend so I can’t really be saved if something goes wrong an hour away from home.

You can’t rallycross a small truck? You sure on that?

So it’s a really good idea or a potentially bad idea. But either way an awesome idea. And yes, you can usually borrow/rent a helmet.

Well I know for autoX you can’t be taller than you are wide. I’ll email the organizer and see. The Ranger has a much higher chance of surviving. The Dodge would be so fun though!

Maybe I’ll just take the Ranger.

I really want to do it in the Dart, but I’ll save it for the future. The Ranger is for thrashing.
I really hope my FJ40 friend comes.

I didn’t see anything in the SCCA rulebook banning trucks, definitely email the organizers to make sure. I will say having driven my old 2WD Ranger in snow for a couple years they can be fun to throw around.

depending on the course itd be a bit hard on all the old suspension bits and driveline.
ranger would be the way to go.

Not taller than this, right? You should be able to run either.

It has relatively new shocks. But I’d hate to break something an hour from home with no one to bail me out. But if I could be bailed out I’d go and hope to break something so I can put nicer parts back on.

I’ll email to make sure. SCCA 3.1 A is something about rollover height and ratios and it’s confusing.
My biggest problem is lack of a helmet.

I also Rallyx’d the crossfire. It did very well, lost the 2wd class only to a e46 m3. That guy was nuts.

Couldn’t hurt. If it’s an SCCA run event they should have borrowable helmets, yea?

Trucks and SUVs are allowed as long as they’re not lifted

Cool, I’ll take the Ranger then.

Good choice

I do have a ranger Edge though. It’s 4x4 height but with 2wd. Still stock, but higher than other 2wds.

Probably fine. You can sign up and send an email to the organizers just to be sure
