So yeah. When ever I’m using my flappy pedals on the steering wheel, which is all the time, I move my foot like I’m pressing the clutch and ease off the gas. And there’s nothing there, and it makes me a sad panda.

I didn’t know people actually used the paddles! Seems like most people with tiptronics/DCT/paddles/etc would just leave it in D all the time!

Do you have a DCT or a regular automatic?

I haven’t driven that kind of setup before. Without a clutch pedal, is it still considered abusive to upshift without easing up on the throttle? Or is it equipped with some kind of advanced synchro technology that prevents damage?

I use my paddles all the time! I tried using the manual mode on the stick, like I do occasionally, went to the top of second hit the stick the wrong way (because vw put it the wrong way round) and looked like a dick, back to the paddles.

In the summer when i have 2 manual cars i switch between whenever i drive something auto i try and clutch in to start it or take off from a light

I’ve done that. Also reached for the shifter that wasn’t there. (Oh, it’s on the column. D’oh!)

What ever is the Hyundai in house 8spd lol. But it shifts better in manual mode. Even speed mode decides too long.

Nope. Technically you don’t need to lift off the gas. But I like to curl the peddle up a bit to help the tranny out.

I also like to shift gears with my mouth. Sometimes I make it up to 15th gear.

I used to pretend shift with the water bottle in my cup holder. I would also clutch in and blip the throttle.

In my MR2 I’m forever rev-matching this and blipping that and compression locking this and stalling that.

It’s a blast.
