Wearing green, and eating a lot of green frosted baked goods is how I’ve spent most of my day, so no complaints here. I went running this morning but have eaten back probably 3-4 times as many calories as I burned from that.

Does anybody remember the movie Her ? Great movie, and the soundtrack is also great.

Annoyingly though the soundtrack was removed from YouTube a little while ago. Fortunately I downloaded it to add it to my Dropbox to listen on my phone. But it’s still pretty annoying that it was removed from YouTube, and I can’t find it available anywhere else. I can only seem to find this one song:

Anyway, today I shot some positive film (AKA slide, transparency, colour reversal - basically the film is in full colour rather than being an orange negative) which I’m looking forward to seeing. I took a few pics of a nearby church and a tall building, I’ve got about 5 frames left which I’m gonna use on a nice stream at a nearby park on the next clear day, hopefully a bit before golden hour.

I am stressed out. I’m having surgery on Tuesday and I won’t know till I wake up if I’m having a hysterectomy or not. I also might lose part of my bowel. We lost our child care assistance while I was out dealing with all of this and if it’s not ready when I’m ready to go back to work, idk what we’ll do.

For those of you who were following my Essure story, my friend helped me make a slideshow if you want to see it. I think it was made right before the dr agreed to do surgery so he’s not in it.

I have to go do pre-op stuff tomorrow. I have to work out who is keeping the kids and driving the kids because I’ll be in bed a week after I get home. I’ll spend at least one night in the hospital. So right now my brain is just looping a “shit I gotta do” list. Over and over and over and over and

1) Yes it’s possible, but the kinja attacks have been of the really lame script kiddy phishing level. Don’t click on links from posters you don’t trust and you should be safe. (If you really want to check out the link, do so through a proxy if you want to be mostly safe).

2) Unless you’ve shelled out for a static IP, not much. Your general vicinity (like maybe city if you live in a larger one), possibly your internet service provider, and that’s about it. Here’s a great explanation: http://security.stackexchange.com/a/31510

My school got inspected by the DOE today. One person comes in, sees the whole place, them spends 3 hours with one classroom grading interactions and activities. I hope my coworker did well. I almost wish she had been in my room, despite my handful children.

One inspection down, one to go. The other one is waiting until we hire a new director. Ours was fired in January and has not been replaced. We keep hearing rumors of one starting, but haven’t seen anyone yet. The current story is that they have to undergo training first. I think our admin is just bullshitting us and the city.

Second in Tigirisan—whatever you do, DON’T make it into a power struggle, that can make it “worth” fighting to thd kiddo (they CALL it the “Terrible TWOS”, but in my experience when I worked at my hometown daycare—it was actually the “Terrible THREES”)—kiddos are learning autonomy, and that they have power—and the ability to say, “No!”, and when they learn that lesson, they’ll use it on EVERYTHING for a bit

As long as it’s not an allergy/sensitivity, sensory issues due to textures or flavors, or really bad reflux causing pain after they eat (maybe have them checked for that if it goes on more than a month or two, or if they’ll only eat just a couple bland foods without a fuss), it may just be the classic power struggle that happens around that age, and a calm, consistent, “This is what we’re having for supper tonight, no snacks until you eat some” should eventually work.

It maaaay also help to get them involved in meal “planning” (you pick the meals for the week, but the kiddo can choose between supper A/supper B fir that night), or have them “help” with dinner prep... and also, letting them know in the morning, with a reminder after pickup from childcare (if you use it)—OR a reminder at lunchtime/afternoon snacktime from whoever’s caring for them during the day may help....

the last suggestion is—What time are they GETTING their afternoon snack? If it’s migrated to later in thd day, they may just still be full from snack if you are eating supper early

(I work with kids & am back in school for a change to that career field, although I’m NOT a parent myself... the kiddos I work with right now are on thd autism spectrum, so I’ve had to learn lots of cooperation & persuasion techniques)

My neighbor is driving me crazy. She is so anxiety-ridden that the thought of going to see her is so stressful it is practically giving me anxiety. There is an important favor that I said I would do and which she refuses to learn to do herself, so I can’t back out of it. She is *such* a bundle of anxiety, though, it’s like this miasma that oozes out of her pores and gets on everything. I show her how to do things, and she still won’t do them bc she is too afraid. I’m going to have to tell her that this is the last time I do her this favor bc she is a grown-ass woman and it’s not that hard.

ETA: I just did the most passive aggressive thing ever, and it wasn’t nearly as satisfying as I had hoped. My neighbor is weird about using her cell phone, so I called her on her cell. I know, this sounds like the smallest deal ever, but it’s an ongoing irritation to me that when we are together and we need to call someone, she always asks me to use my cell when I pay by the minute, and she has a monthly plan. She also calls me at home on my cell phone number when I have told her to call me at my Google voice number bc I don’t have to pay for that.

Pretty sure that’s how things go. And have you told your neighbor you can’t call ‘cause you’re low on minutes? That is odd...

And can you document whatever it is you do for her? Now granted, it could also just be loneliness on her part; at some point my brother and I were wondering if our grandma was screwing up her computer on purpose as an excuse to call us over.

The thing that makes it even more frustrating is that they are twins and one east almost anything and the other nothing. the difficult one used to love ziti and tomato sauce and then 1 day just wanted plain ziti. now shes back to wanting sauce. Meanwhile we go out to dinner and the other twin is stealing my lobster bisque and shrimp scampi (no joke on either of those) like what kid eats shrimp scampi?!? It’s not that I am low on minutes, it’s that I pay for each one. Cell wise, her minutes are included in her plan. She doesn’t pay for every call she makes the way I do. House wise, I don’t want to pay for cell minutes when Google minutes are free.

As for what I do for her, I demonstrated it to her. I then I asked her to do it while I was there so I could help if there was trouble. She insisted that I do it. I just don’t think she has the confidence in herself. I think her anxiety gets in the way of just doing things.

She is lonely, that is for sure. Or needy. Or something, I’m not a psychologist. I find it hysterical that she calls herself a loner when she is completely incapable of doing something like going to a movie by herself. I actually *am* a loner, and her constant need for company makes me want to scream.

She’s about my mother’s age, and my mother had a very similar type of nervousness surrounding certain things, and I am now terrified that this is just what happens to women as they age. I want to be shot if I ever develop such anxiety about things.

1) Ugh, so straight up tell her that you don’t have the budget to make her calls for her. And block her number on cell? If you don’t pick up, she’ll get the hint.

2) Honestly, I forget stuff people have shown me, even dozens of times. Documentation though is great ‘cause I can look it up go back and redo and go at my own pace. And that helps a lot with the anxiety ‘cause I don’t have someone standing over my shoulder, ‘specially someone who intimidates me, like someone awesome at the task. Like yes, she may just end up calling you to ask about the documentation, but *shrugs* it may also help. A good manual helped my granny a lot.

3) You could wash your hands of her. That’s you’re right. But, since it seems like deep down you’re reluctant, is there a group of sorts in your neighborhood (library or whatever) that she can easily get to and that you can maybe suggest she go to (or even better go with her at least the first time). And I think the anxiety is also wrapped up in loneliness. My grandmother also gets impossible when she’s been cooped up in the house too long.

I believe it!

If you can, I’d maybe see if whoever’s watching them at lunch & breakfast can track how those meals go, and just log what/how much she eats (covertly, of course—ya don’t need any MORE issues around her eating!)...

If she’s eating relatively normally otherwise, I really wouldn’t worry about it—it cooould just be that she’s trying to figure out ways to be “herself” and not “a part of twins” —’cuz this totally IS the age they’re trying to figure out those “where does ‘me’ end and ‘you’ begin?” questions.

And if that DOESN’T seem to be what it is, I’d check with her pediatrician. Anecdotally—(ymmv!) acid/reflux issues run in our family, and from the time she was that age (maybe a little younger), one of my cousins was labeled a “picky eater”.... fast-forward 20+years, and one of HER daughters had “the colic from HELL”... except that it wasn’t—they got in with a peds GI specialist, and discovered she had the worst case of reflux the doc had ever seen in a baby that little.... he asked my cousin if SHE ever hot heartburn, and basically figured out ALL her food issues all these years were pain from excess acid too—both got on an acid reducer, have no more pain, and they both actually EAT now

Hopefully your tiny’s issues are nowhere near my cousin’s, ‘cuz it IS pretty rare—but once in a great while, it can be something to keep in mind if absolutely nothing else is working...

The last thing I can think of is—is there ever anyone around who she looks up to, who might’ve said “Yuck” about anything food-related in her direct hearing?

I was THAT kid myself! Dad came home one day, when I was eating yogurt with mom at lunch. HE said “Yuck!” So 3-year old me pushed her plate away saying, “Yuck!” annnd I didn’t eat it again ‘til I was ~12, because even though I was a tiny, it got STUCK in my head that “Yogurt is gross!” and it took me THAT long to be willing to try it again

Good luck, and I hope you guys get it figured out!

Hmm...

Last week I had my wisdom tooth pulled out, didn’t feel like eating much then had severe gastric pain for the 1st time. Usually I can get by as I work (too darn focused until no hunger feels)...

It feels like dying.

I didn’t have any energy to do anything to the point I can’t even watch some youtube videos (youtubers who are more high energy in their voice)...I vomited and all that...

But the pain, oh mi gosh. I never knew my body could hurt so much...or that gas could expand your stomach that I feel like bursting or full all the time. It was quite a while before I could have my stomach growling again (good sign for recovery).

Not something I want to go through again. There were some changes after I recovered...My stomach needs some food as about 6ish hours, or it will have a little pain. Now I just eat something at about 4ish hours.
