For some reason (BOREDOM) I got around to ‘reading’
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
. Admittedly I don’t typically read Tavarish stories, as I don’t like reading the same book every week. But I read this one and noticed some things that reminded me of the way Doug writes. You know, the way he takes a paragraph to describe what the cheese on his sandwich tasted like. For example:
Aston’s drastic styling change resulted in a car that looks like the result of a rough three-way between West Coast Customs, Will.I.Am, and a salvage title Ford Fusion.
and:
It’s as if Aston Martin saw the Bentley Bentayga, compared that to the massive size of the SUV market and said “We don’t have any money to design another car, but fuck it, let’s do it anyway” as they high fived and ended every other sentence with “bro.”
At least Doug can be funny.

That article single handedly caused me to stop respecting Tavarish.

I like many of the used luxury cars Tavarish also likes.
This is where our similarities end.

meh, I haven’t been a fan since early on when he was a know-it-all dick to me in the comments of one of his stories. All I did was point out how time is money and flipping a car for a few hundred bucks is generally a loss IMO, but whatever.

at this point its just click-bait. Brings in revenue considering each posts gets hundreds of comments from front pagers.

It IS a loss, if you’re doing it as side hustle.
In order for it to be worth it, you need to beat your hourly rate from your main gig when all is said and done. In other words, your net revenue needs to be higher than your pay broken out hourly.

Hot take: I like Alissa Walker’s articles more than Tavarish.

Yup, he turned me on to the viability of the W220 but other than that he seems like a bit of a douche.

I like reading TTAC more than I like reading Tavarish articles.

And with the kind of work you’re doing, it needs to pay better than just being a mechanic in a shop. (Usually ~$80-100 an hour, if you are the boss)

Ehhhh it CAN be a loss. There’s a lot of figuring that needs to go into whether it’s a loss or not. If you only get so much pay at your main gig (salary or limited hours), then whether or not you are getting more than that rate is irrelevant. Alternatively, if fixing up beaters is a hobby to you, and what you’d be doing anyway, as long as you clear cost, parts, and beer, you’re golden.

Good news! Travaris is this weeks guest on my show and Walker is next weeks!

Can’t refute the second point!

Doug hasn’t written anything on TTAC in over a month. Maybe he’s abandoned them? Maybe I’d know if I followed him on twitter?

Doug is clearly writing in Dave Barry’s style. I have no idea what Tavarish is doing (aside from enabling David Tracy’s addictions).

I wasn’t referring to DeMuro.
I’m just saying that I’d rather read TTAC articles than Tavarish’s garbage. And I can’t stand TTAC.

Also, why the fuck did he compare a GT car with normal ride height to highly raised crossovers? Should everything be slammed, Mr “we-owe-them-an-apology?” Sorry if anyone’s offended but the DB11 piece just gets on my nerves
