Or almost was
I had no idea that SAAB was interested and planning on making a 9-6 crossover off the Subaru B9 Tribeca before the controlling interest in SAAB moved to GM. Boy, I’m glad it didn’t work out.
I mean, I know the GMT360 based 9-7X was nothing to write home about but this...this could be the least SAAB since the 9-2X which was at least a fun and interesting car.

Funny that the first place I saw a Subaru Tribeca was ... in Tribeca. I always equated it with the Pacifica - too big and thirsty for what it aspired to be. Probably a nice comfortable car though ....

I think the problem it had was that people wanted a 7 seat outback and got an alien wart.

Probably not terribly different from the 9-4X in terms of size/power/capability, right?

next size class up, this was a 7 seater although it was a tight 7 seater. Seems to me those never really sell well.

Wow, doesn’t look big enough for that.

The front end wasn’t at all nice to look at, but I recall sitting in one at the NY Auto Show and thinking it would be not bad at all to drive. But I never drove one.

At least the SAAB variant didn’t have the vagina grill.

I like the Tribeca. I may be the only person to say that, but a boxer in a big SUV is just a cool idea to me.

I actually like it a little too. Its too ugly and too small but an H6 SUV/crossover is a cool idea. That being said, this makes for a terrible SAAB.

I didn’t mind the updated Tribeca and I kind of like this. The third row though...didn’t really work. Subie should have either made it bigger or gave up the third row idea.
Btw...are we ever going to get a Subaru/Toyota Highlander going?
