He did behave the most civilly and speak the most intelligently of the lot. I’ll grant him that much. But when he trotted out his brother, I knew it was over.

I agree he was civil, but I’m not sure he spoke intelligently.
When your party requires to make only factually incorrect statements to belong to them, you have very little latitude with making intelligent statements, or else you take the risk of making sense.
Example, when a moderator in the GOP debate corrected Ted Cruz to make sure the audience doesn’t get mislead, he got booed.
