Is that a thing? like a place you can go a use a lift a tools, at I’m guessing an hourly rate? That’s awesome.

Wait, are you telling me that you can go to a garage and rent a lift and the tools and work on your car? What kind of sorcery is that?

It’s a Miata..you don’t know the meaning of expensive!! I was just as a buddies garage who’s building a Miata into a time attack/auto cross car using the money he got selling his money pit, a 700 hp Evo. Already going through everything mechanical and installing top quality performance parts, and planning on a K20 swap after he learns the car with stock motor... his budget he’s added up is 12k, for a fully built Miata, meanwhile my car cost more then that to start and will easily be quadruple that when I go full time attack -.-

Yeah I did all my work there... I don’t know elsewhere in north america, but in Montreal there was a shitload. Quite ghetto as there were more beaten up corollas than nearly pristine LT1 Corvette lol, but nonetheless really practical. 1 full day of work on my car would cost me like 30/40$...

Well ideally you already have the tools and you rent the lift. Tools for rent car be expensive, but if you need anything, they usually have it (welder, engine hoist, transmission “hoist” (not sure of the name)...etc etc.
Will copy paste the answer I gave already:

I wonder what the liability insurance for a place like that is. letting Jeo Shmoe put his 3000lb car on a lift above his head, with no proper training.

It’s Canada, not the US. People are free to hurt themselves and suffer the consequences of their own bad judgement. If they are too stupid and hurt themselves using something they shouldn’t use, it’s their own fault, not the person’s who gave them the opportunity to save some money working on their own car :)
You know: real “freedom” :)

Yup, that’s a thing now. They have them all over. This is just an example.

DIY garages are all over. I have one 10 minutes from my house, and all my friends go there to get shit done on their cars

Nah. It’s my work. I don’t work for service so I’m not allowed to use the lift and I’ve got to pay others to do it for me. Sadness, because given some loaned air tools and use of the lift I could easily do it myself.

Holy crap, they want 40$/hr! For that kind of I think I’ll stay in the parking lot if at all possible.
They seriously suggest using it for oil changes, you could have the whole oil change done for 40$ at a regular shop!

Yea, it’s not something I would use, but if I actually needed a lift I’d do some searching around.

the 4 times 12k would be a decent guess of how much my Z33 will be to build, lol

i missed the z33 part the first time through.
spend the money once and dont look back. its more rewarding to have something unique.
