After fruitlessly trying to pull a mirror for my C1500 and managing to lose a socket at the same time, I decided to look around for just the mirror glass, brand new. Lordco was charging $118. The Canadian Tire rep said around $58. Amazon had it for $32 shipped. Rock Auto? $20, shipped, taxes in. Sorry brick and mortar, cyberspace wins today. Lowered Chevy C1500 for your time.

Last time brick and mortar won for me was when I had to get a high-temp o-ring for the WRX’s power steering pump. RockAuto: 30 cents...plus $7.50 shipping. Dealership: $2.50.

I hate brick and mortar auto stores. I needed a new catalytic gasket for my S10 and Autozone didn’t have any and kept trying to sell me the manifold gasket which was for the V6 :|

Advance auto did have Lucas red & tacky cheaper than Amazon and I bought a few jars. Excellent all purpose grease.

I like going to the parts store, even if I can save a couple bucks by ordering online. But some prices just can’t be beat.

My truck’s multifunction switch went bad, and the over-the-counter price for a new one was around $180. There are cheaper Dorman ones that I could have gone after, but their low price gave me serious doubts about quality/longevity. A quick search on eBay yielded a NOS Borg-Warner/BWD unit for about $50. I couldn’t resist.

Yeah, sometimes the shipping kills you.

The local parts stores are okay. The one with reasonable prices isn’t knowledgeable, and the one that is knowledgeable has crack pipe pricing. They’re all massive chains anyways, so if I can get it cheaper online, I will.

Yeah, brick and mortar auto parts stores are either expensive or knowledgeable. Pick one.

I was missing the front right side marker on my MINI. All the mini sites wanted like $45. Ive seen as much as $75. Rockauto had it for $5.80.
