And there were idiots last night. Seriously dude, what part of pull over and stop don’t you understand? The guys in front that were stopped can be excused, they were already there when the ambulance arrived (hospital is right there) and as there was a gap were OK to hold their positions. But going through in front with plenty of warning... um...

Also, not shown is one more moron here. Going in the direction the ambulance turned, they stopped... in the left-hand lane. There was no traffic to stop them moving over to where they were supposed to go, but for some reason stopping in the left lane was an acceptable choice...

And because I know how much you love them, a dashcam gif of sideways action. No intent whatsoever. Poo. If the ice wasn’t pebbled I’d have some little minor problems.

And inb4 anyone saying I was doing something wrong, NO. I was fully aware of the ice, was going slowly, tried to take the inside of the corner for the extra banking and radius, tried to be gentle and it still nearly bit me. Wide angle lens disclaimer etc etc. I’ve taken this corner hundreds of times, trust me on this one...

Ice can be a sneaky bitch! On christmas eve we were coming home from my relatives house where it was raining all day and then got cold out, and we were getting on the road before the salt trucks were out. Basically no traction anywhere in any direction, ABS and Traction control were flipping out the whole time... pressing hard on any pedal would set things off. Fortunately good snow tires kept me from sliding all over the place and we were able to make progress without getting killed...

That gif looks way faster than it was, and not near as much ass-out action. Combine that with the oncoming mailbox and light pole, and the parked cars on either side--trust me, poo.

I had TC/SC off. I don’t want to imagine with it on. Throw that helpless feeling on top of everything else... ugh.

The only good thing I can think of with ice is that it is at least forgiving if you’re going slow enough. It won’t throw you on a sudden move like snow will, there simply isn’t enough traction to bite back. Eg my truck always kicks out the back to the right if it starts spinning. Not last night...
