Beautiful scenery, low cost of living, great food, lots to do outdoors, and it’s in a nice spot geographically that allows you to to make trips to southern California for the beach, northern Arizona or Colorado for skiing, and Vegas for Vegas stuff pretty easily on a long weekend. It’s got a fair bit else going for it as well. As long as you can get past the heat in the summer, it’s quite a nice state really.

Depends where you are really. If you live in Tempe, it’s not bad. Cheap housing, crazy parties, great school districts, a not bad uni, and a nice view of south mountain.
Tucson’s really a fucking bitch tho
Also, check the Pheonix craigslist :)

You’re in AZ in winter and asking why peole live here? Come back in July and ask that question, it will make more sense then.

I really hope people keep thinking Tucson sucks so it doesn’t end up looking like Tempe. As an AZ native, it’s one of the few places in the state that hasn’t been ruined by people coming here and trying to make it a suburb of California.
ASU is a terrible university that not only fucked up Tempe, but has now also ruined downtown Phoenix

My two friends from Arizona just tell me how much they rather be in California.
So Arizona has jealousy I guess.
And there’s a city called SURPRISE. That’s charming.
And they have Phoenix Sky Harbor. Which in my opinion is the best Southwest hub for when you’re flying west. So go them.

Yeah, I can kinda see the wannabe Cali vibe, there’s a lot of people wearing L.A. hats too.
Just wondering, how did ASU fuck up Tempe? Genuinely curious.

By bringing in the Cali vibe. It completely shit all over the local arts scene in downtown Phoenix with all those apartments.

Either you’re from California and have a complex or are from some god forsaken east coast hell hole and are jealous.

I’d rather live in California too, if I had several billion dollars so I could buy a decent house and pay off corrupt local officials.
Otherwise I’ll live here.

I’m still just a kid though HAHA. So I haven’t really made any adult decisions that allowed me to survive in California other than the fact my parents decided to stay here years ago. When I graduate college, I plan on living in Dallas/Carrollton TX area or somewhere in the Midwest just cause everyone is so nice there. (At least the last three years I’ve been in Oklahoma for school.)

Yeah. Well the reality hits pretty hard. If you want to live near the desired areas you better make really good money otherwise be prepared to commute a few hours to work.

Because they’re afraid of the cold.

Where is it that you love that you think is better than AZ? I have lived and visited lots of other states and AZ (Phoenix area) is by far the best.

Because deserts are cool. Not literally cool, but beautiful and interesting. It might also be because they don’t like winter. Or don’t know about sandstorms yet. Or don’t know that some Arizonan cities only exist because we’ve completely destroyed watersheds elsewhere. But I’ll go with the “deserts are pretty” premise, because the other stuff is depressing.

I’m Californian and have long had family in Tuscon, I always liked it there. Promise I don’t want to ruin it, I don’t care for cities but it’s beautiful outside of town.

Why does everyone get so hung up on proving how where they live is “better?” Can’t I just like where I live and have that be the end of it?

I live in San Diego, the Summer home of all the Arizona people that can’t take the heat. I’m from the south, originally and I’ve lived all over the place. Visiting Sedona for the first time, so far it’s nice but on the drive over all I could think of was the wasteland scenes from The Road Warrior.

we were down in Phoenix for the first time this past year - and I have to say it’s not the burnt out pit I was expecting. There isn’t much to downtown but it looks to be getting better. The scenery is really nice. Freeways are a piece of cake compared to other west coast cities. Tempe is nice. Scottsdale, is well, Scottsdale. Tonto National Forest is really cool.
