Fiat isn’t on the list. What about the rest of the oppo clan, how many of us can stump the valet ticket?
Forgot to add the fun stuff of this: the valet guys were very excited and all of them checked out my car. Made me feel all proud and stuff. But it was like 1030 on a Tuesday so I’m sure it was the most exciting thing to come through all day.
They were also VERY impressed that four of us crawled out of this tiny ass car, looking like clowns.

Genesis is not on the ticket...

this is a pretty silly ticket.
We had a ticket where you write down a plate number. If you were clever enough, you come up with row numbering system.
When you have to find the car, you say row X. Plate ABC123 etc and you find it.

No Plymouth... Not that there are many left in this world, but I feel that’s an oversight.

my mother in law has a genesis sedan before they logo’d it and moved off to be their own thing, it has all the right things to be a good luxury wrapped car - except for the ride quality. I am normally siting in the back seat and you can feel every little thing on the road. Driver’s seat, not so bad.

how dare they assume my vehicle’s make!
lol :]

I have a 2012 5.0 R-Spec. I guess it’s the “tuned” suspension, but it feels about the same either front or back. I have heard much complaints about the rear in the 3.8, but my FIL has a 2013, and the back is fine for me.
However, I used to own a Z06, so my threshold is likely different....

equality for vehicles!
Motion to allow compact spots to be used by A8 drivers without judgement. Who are we to judge what is compact

Why do they need both Gold and Tan as colour options? Technically both are beige.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 09:24 |

first time I’ve seen one with all the makes and what not listed. Normally it’s a numbered thing with a plate (from what I’ve seen at least).
![]() 12/21/2016 at 09:25 |

shade of brown: beige, brown, tan, some yellows, possibly some oranges, a few reds - what a good catch all box they need

My Smart Fortwo would have stumped the ticket. Honda Fit, not so much. EDIT: Range Rover ought not to be listed as a separate marque.

We took it from Dallas, TX to Breckenridge, CO so I got familiar with all the seats as we cycled through drivers. The front in general, passenger or driver, was relatively comfortable. The rear seat (minus the middle hump, gah I sat on that for over an hour once and my butt was killing me) is cushy until the car moves.
How do you like the r spec? I like the direction the brand is heading

Why is BMW written out as B.M.W. - I can’t recall seeing that anywhere, ever. Also GMC isn’t written like that.
And maybe I’m stupid, but what’s “P/U?”

I love it. I really do. It’s not the best handling car in the world, but with decent tires, it gets the job done well enough. The power, though... God, the power. It’s got smooth, massive power deliver. 0-60 is a verified 4.8 s (after the Michelin PSS’ were put on.) and it has no drama about it. After I bought it, I got on the highway and was doing 110 before I even realized it. It just effortlessly went there. So nice. I’m so glad the 5.0 is sticking around.

My imaginary Bugatti is not listed, nor is dead brand Plymouth.

My Moose (XC90) has the same sub frame, drivetrain, accessories, engine mounts, steering, shocks, and control arms as the S60..... so yeah, XC90 is totally free to call itself a sedan! How dare they not let it compete in the stock sedan class at AutoX. TRIGGERED!!!!!

inconsistencies are inconsistent. Didn’t even notice that! That’s obnoxious.
I’m thinking p/u = pick up

Pick-up. Apparently it’s own brand.

just like your post said, it’s a struggle you face being an audi owner. I used to know that struggle and it is great

Ram’s not there either.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 09:48 |

Maybe because it’s an acronym “Bayerische Motoren Werke” and GMC should be GMTC if they were one.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 09:49 |

Yeah, but even BMW doesn’t stylize nor refer it with the periods.

didn’t notice that, good point on the RR vs LR.
BUT think of the average RR driver, they need that extra bit of ball massaging to make them better than just the average LR driver
![]() 12/21/2016 at 09:52 |

Ram, but they’d just mark it as a dodge

I have only ever valeted my ricer civic at my brother in laws 5 star hotel. The valets park super cars all day, I’m pretty confident they held my keys like they were diseased when I passed them over. :)

My favorite one was a parking ticket I found for not paying for parking in a freshly repaved commuter rail lot with no markings - including the space numbers for which you’re supposed to pay before catching the train. No numbers, no payment. Fortunately, my amateur radio license plate confused them, and they entered it wrong on the ticket. I assumed that since the plate on the ticket didn’t match my car, they must have placed the ticket on the wrong car, so I ignored it. Five years later, no problems. >:)

Haha. We took my Abarth from a local campground to a farmers market in Salida, CO once. We actually had a small crowd laughing as we got out of the car with three adults, my 50-pound mutt, and my sister’s Akita. That back seat was really cramped.

Is the steering electric or hydraulic?
![]() 12/21/2016 at 10:18 |

Electric, I think.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 10:30 |

You driven a basic Hyundai/Kia? I assume the steering in your car feels better than something like a Sonata. I found the steering in the Sonata I rented to be almost intolerable.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 10:35 |
|
Well, I wasn’t happy with the steering at first, but swapping the tires from the stock crap to the PSS was such a huge difference that I’m willing to say it might have been the tires. I mean, it was THAT big of a difference.
I’ve had a few Sonata rentals, always felt like, well, rentals...
![]() 12/21/2016 at 10:37 |
|
It was just felt way over boosted. It could possibly be the tires, but I don’t think that would fix the sensitivity issue.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 10:42 |
|
Probably not. On my car, the turn in became much more direct and quick, rather than slightly delayed and rubbery. I do know that the steering is much better on the R-Spec than on the 3.8, though, so it could be a lot due to tuning.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 10:44 |
|
Probably a lot of tuning then.

They have Daewoo and Isuzu but not Fiat? This isn’t in the US is it?
![]() 12/21/2016 at 11:28 |

Well, in fairness, if you stand back 100 feet and/or squint, pickup trucks are all the same. I’ve put together this helpful composite image of 10 of today’s most popular pickup models to illustrate my point.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 11:29 |

To be fair my $650 Alfa Romeo 164 would probably have caused many more problems to someone that doesn’t know its quirks than the lack of a box for its make
![]() 12/21/2016 at 11:33 |
|
Possible, but perhaps you’re giving them too much credit. Also missing: RAM, which is a current and popular “brand.” OH and Tesla? I guess your car can valet itself, nevermind.

Nashville, TN, USA
![]() 12/21/2016 at 11:40 |

Even better, just ditch half the brands on there and boil it down to FCA, Ford, GM, Reliable, German, Econobox, and “Interesting.”
![]() 12/21/2016 at 11:47 |

FIATs weren’t sold in the US for over a decade, so it’s more likely to be in the US. The artwork was probably done in the ‘90s.

I had to valet my ‘66 GMC longbed once at a high end restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ. It’s lowered with straight pipes and no power steering. I looked at the kid and was like, you want me to just park this thing? He said yes.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 12:09 |

Has to be an older version. They still have Oldsmobile . Also, Rolls Royce but no Bentley? Wtf?
![]() 12/21/2016 at 12:14 |

My old Geo wouldn’t have been on it but then again it wasn’t exactly the type of car you valet.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 12:17 |

that would work
![]() 12/21/2016 at 12:18 |

that’s what makes it fun!
![]() 12/21/2016 at 12:22 |

And now I finally have the type of car that you DO see in a valet lot and I don’t trust anyone to valet it.

as you shouldn’t, what car?

2000 BMW 528i
![]() 12/21/2016 at 12:57 |
|
i’d hoon that. Do you like the 528? I looked in to that era 5 series and was swayed to try to find a 540i, but then ran away from the thought of sinking money in to vanos problems
![]() 12/21/2016 at 14:36 |

I found one with a 5-speed and thus far it’s the single best all round vehicle I’ve ever driven. I can’t speak as to what an automatic one is like but I can say that I don’t find myself constantly wishing for the V8. It’s a good engine and will be more reliable than a 540i. Mine is about to hit 250k miles.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 14:55 |

323i I had was running like a top a 178k. That’s interesting. I heard mixed reviews on the lacking power so nice to hear it’s not all bad
![]() 12/21/2016 at 15:10 |

I’m sure the automatics are where the low power complaints stem from. If you do find a manual car you owe it to yourself to test drive it.
![]() 12/21/2016 at 15:21 |

what a way to look at it, I owe myself that test drive
![]() 12/21/2016 at 15:26 |

Worst possible result is you decide it’s not the car for you. Best result is an affordable bit of prestige to wow people with. I get regular comments on mine despite it being worth no more than a Camry of the same vintage.

I’ll be damned.
![]() 12/22/2016 at 03:28 |

If I’m at my local mall I will pay the $6 valet fee just to avoid the hassle of parking. That’s worth a few bucks no matter what you are driving lol.

the best part, this is a brand new Snazzy pants hotel! I agree, probably done over a decade ago
