I hated office Xmas parties when I was an employee, and now that I have my own business, the party is a source of anxiety. I see it as a chance to say thank you, and I want my employees to enjoy it. I have 7 employees, and 16 people attending the party (guests are welcome). Here is the menu:
I haven’t picked the wine yet. Am I doing this right?

I think, maybe

Very right. I would make sure to have both red and white wine due to the variety of entree choices and that some people just prefer one or the other. But not too many choices. Pick a red and a white that you can afford and personally enjoy and then get several bottles of both. Full bar service is nice at a big party, but at a smaller one just let the guests make a simple choice and spend more time enjoying the party instead of worrying about what to drink.

Wow that is fantastic. You are definitely doing it right.

Nice work on the veggie options. Alternative dietary options are often overlooked. I’m guessing the starter salad can be had without the steak? Also, my company needs to step up the annual holiday party. Your menu is on fleek, as the #youths might say. (no idea if that is still a term)

Law firm.
Yes, it would appear to be Ruth’s Chris.

This looks good to me. I’m bailing on my company’s holiday party because they decided it would be “fun” to have some stupid theme.
Seems to me that as long as you have food and drinks, you’re doing well, and I think your menu seems tasty and balanced. If you are really fretting go buy a bottle of Champagne to give to each of your employees, but really I think you are in good shape.

That menu looks like a great start. Booze helps, but trust the people you’re giving it to.
Keep the night in their hands(leave out the pre planned activities).
If you want to say a few words, do it in less than 30-60 seconds.
And try not to make people feel compelled to stay until X time.

You’re doing it right. I’d choose a cabernet or a Chianti Reserve, but then I’ll drink Chianti with anything, even breakfast cereal.
I just took my people out for a nice lunch today. Very low key.

Revised entree list:
- steak
- steak
- meat
- lobster-steak genetic hybrid

Sounds lovely. I find my work’s Xmas party fun, but I feel awkward and anxious.

Also agreed, hard cash is always the sincerest, best-appreciated thanks. Followed closely by free good food

Looks like Ruth’s Chris. You are doing this right.

Seems like a nice spread, my school throws a heavy appetizer and wine spread at a restaurant down the street from the school so people can drop in after the school day.

Are you doing that right? we have to pay for our department holiday lunch, and we get typical buffet fare (chicken, mostaccioli, meatballs, potatoes, and beans.) so I’d say you’re doing OK.
on the other hand, being a ticketed event releases us from several corporate policies, so the cheap food is offset by the open bar.

Sooooooo are you by chance looking for an all purposes IT guy to work remotely from Nashville? You could pay me about 25k a year benefits and travel arrangements for holiday parties.

This is far above any company holiday party I’ve ever been to. Your employees will feel appreciated and appreciate you for this. Good job, sir.
