And yes, it sounds like !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
For it to walk up to the 6900K and practically punch it in the solar plexus... This is going to be a fun competition to watch.

I like how you flatter me by thinking I would know what any of this is.

I am excited. AMD is finally coming back.

I’ve been holding off on upgrading my 2600K specifically for this. Fingers crossed that AMD doesn’t disappoint.

This thing is fire, as all AMD processors are

Hey, power consumption on this one is supposed to be under control!

It’s exciting, but when you see them pushing it back, you wonder if that edge will be gone by the time it is actually out.

I used to be an AMD fanboy back in the K6 and early Athlon days. then they lost the plot, I found out what an undisciplined shitshow that company was, and no longer give a shit. and now I’m supposed to care that they’ve got something to (again) try to beat Intel, just as Intel is running into the limits of silicon chip fabrication and ARM is coming up to eat their lunch? no thanks. Gave up on AMD in 2005.

Same situation, but with a 2500k. I’m not sure I want something with power draw as high as this thing, but if it is actually as good as these glimpses indicate, that should have a nice knock on approach to mid-range chips from both AMD and Intel.

It’s AMD benchmarketing, but I can’t lie... I’m a bit excited by this.
Intel’s desperately needed a serious competitor on the high end for a while. Sure, there’s POWER9 from IBM, but that’s not x86.

That’s nice and all, but they stated the 6900k’s price, and not the Ryzen price.

I’m also curious as to what the price would be as well, but if I knew any better about their marketing strategy (being a notch or two below Intel), it looks like they’re trying to tear Intel’s market share away from their hands so I’m guessing it’s going to be slightly cheaper than the usual 6900K.

Interesting. I was building computers like crazy in the 2005 era and you’d have to threaten me to use Intel stuff back then. The Pentium 4 was worse than a simillarly prized Athlon XP and later it was horribly inferior to a simillarly prized Athlon 64. This continued in the very early dual core era. Only when the core2duo came along Intel became a viable option again. Imho.
