but I knew the rotors couldn’t be affixed to the crankshaft. A few more minutes in and it became obvious what was being made, although I suspect it’s just a demo piece. If you’ve watched anything by Abom79 or other machining channels you know how much metal can be removed on a lathe before the machine or material screams in protest, but the size of the chips was astonishing. Pretty cool CNC work.
(here’s hoping I don’t get Kinja’d twice in two days...)

Definitely a demo, you wouldn’t do that kind of machining without a ton of coolant flow.

Lending further credence to that theory, I’ve never seen both regular and split pins on the same crankshaft.

It looks pretty raggedy at the end too, they weren’t really making a finished quality party.
