I’ve been searching for a second vehicle for a while now. After scouring my past Oppo posts looking for a Doggo pic it hit me!
The Xterra!
That’s with 32x11.50 tires on Pathy wheels with a poor man’s lift. What did I hit? Might have been a Civic. She was stone stock until the “accident”.
Here she is on 35x12.50s on Pathy wheels.
Long distance Blackberry pic. This was after a “poor man’s lift”, a 2" body lift and some sawzalling of the plastics/sheet metal.
Flex?
The nose was a bit stiff with the cranked up torsion bars but she’d go through anything I pointed her at.
Finding one with a 5 speed is a real PITFA!

I love a vehicle that is so beat up, you can safely beat the shit out of it without worrying about it.

Before the wreck I was all tire shine, Armor All and detailing. (It was minty when I bought it) After? Yeah..
Let’s mess with it! A perfect alternative to rusty nasty ass XJs.

Unrelated question: is your username a reference to the Everly Brothers? I really like that song after hearing it on Sirius so much.

Sadly, no. I have grown to like that song too though. I was branded with that nickname back in the 90s on CB radios. Long story short. (too late!) We used to play “Hide and Seek” based on signal strength and ambiguous clues. The Pigeon Dove and the Hawk were my greatest takedowns. I kept the name and it fits with my Doggos.

I own an XJ and like the thought of an XTerra way better. In highschool my friend’s mom had one and I loved it. Her’s was some weird pinkish red color I’d never seen before nor after. That thing has gone through three kids learning to drive hundred of trips back and forth to Louisville and keeps trucking as a daily driver. An XJ would need a new head or cooling system by now and have gone through more gas while being smaller.

That’s actually a good story.
The dad of a high school friend of mine worked for Cobra. He had a bunch of handheld CB’s, and we used to play CB tag in the park on foot (before we got our drivers licenses).

3rd Gen 4Runners also had a 5 speed if you want to look there.

Two years ago, a friend of mine let me borrow her ‘07 XTerra and I promptly rolled it into a telephone pole in neutral while trying to figure out how to engage reverse (you have to push the whole stick downward on 2nd gen 6-speeds to slip past 6th and into R). I thought she was going to kill me and I tried to pay for body work, but her response was “it’s an XTerra, it just gives it more character.” I’m not really sure what the point of this story is, but I’ve always liked XTerras.

Not many vehicles can look good with body damage. The X, even the second gen I guess, can pull it off.

XJ owner here. Can confirm- XJs are shitboxes.

I wouldn’t go that far. In my area they are all pretty much fertilizer for David Tracy’s lawn. And the good XJs are demanding a big dollar. The X is just a nice alternative.

I’ve had mine for 14 years. I love it, but is sure is a poorly built POS, and the last thing I’d ever recommend to anyone.

We bought my wife an Xterra new in 2001. If it had been my car, I’d have had a 4x4 5-speed and we’d never gotten rid of it. As is was, we ended up with a 4x2 auto and sold it in ‘08. Still, a good little truck.
I picked up an ‘03 Pathfinder 4x4 a couple years ago for beater/dog/winter duty.
