Zoidberg’s Tercel got me thinking about hoe a car like that gets us all a-flutter, when its competitors are all but forgotten.
Remember the Nissan Stanza? No AWD as I recall, but sliding doors and removeable rear seats have to mean something, no? Why are these not loved for their quirkiness?

Probably not reliable enough to have lasted this long in great-ish numbers?

Cute lil van-lookin things are awesome, but Nissans rust so bad!
There’s also Mitsubishi’s MPV things (Colt Vista, Expo and Expo LRV, Summit wagon, etc)

Because while the Tercel is quirky and kinda cute, the Stanza is a weird breadbox shaped growth.

I suppose I can’t throw stones, but here goes: these are positively ugly in person. But they could actually be had with 4WD.

I actually love these things, almost as much as a Tercel.

Because the Tercel is proportioned better.
And the Corolla Alltrac wagon is better still
And the 88-91 Honda Civic Wagovan even better than that.
But y’all don’t even know:
If you needed seating for 6, 30 mpg and 4 wheel drive where I grew up this was the one.
