Now for me, this isn’t really even a question on this vehicle. I’ve got a 4x4, I’ve got some big ass BFGs, the white letters get turned out.
I can’t really think of a situation where I’d buy tires with raised whites and not turn them out. Maybe if I had non-matching tires for some reason and I wasn’t trying to call attention to them? But for the most part, I’ve bought nice tires and I want those letters out.
What do you guys think? Anybody just straight up hate raised white letters?

Out. Raised whites on truck tires look excellent. Breaks up that giant sidewall visually.

white letters are awesome

Out. 100%.

Love raised white letters, wish I could get them on my car

Out always

In.
I personally think white letters look shitty and dated on any car made after 1990.

Out!
We tried and tried to get OWL tires for our Jeep but every time they came in they had black sidewalls. Ended up just taking a $50 credit on all five tires and calling it a day.

Out on trucks and SUVs of any age
In on any car made after like 1986
Crossovers are a grey area where some look good with them out, some look like arse

Letters out, duh.
All four vehicles of the Ender household have white lettering on their tires...of which only one came that way from the manufacturer.

On cars I actually agree...any Mustang Foxbody or newer would get blackwalls from me. On trucks and SUVs (real ones, body on frame) though, I think the raised whites are always appropriate.

Where’d you get those from?
As I understand it, they’ve phased out the white lettering on the K02's

depends entirely on the vehicle.
and if the tyres are not an embarassing brand

Out. Only works on knobby A/T tires like these though.
![]() 11/23/2016 at 21:49 |

That’s true, it just looks really bad on some real trucks and SUVs.

White letters out.

4WheelParts.com. I thought I had heard about no-white letters on KO2s, so I was stoked to be able to get them. The price was great, too.

Sometimes the size tire you may want/need only comes in RWL. Example: Its pretty hard to find a decent all weather blackwall in 255-60-15 that is good in the snow....

Well in that case you gotta go white side out

No white letters on the 2014 Tundra KO2s. White out on the old 1982 Toyota BFG ATs

Canadian Tire still stocks mostly raised white lettered KO2s up here in Canada.
By the way, these tires were the best $1k I ever spent.

With big meaty boots like these, might as well show them all. It’s not like you’re trying to make them blend in or disappear...

I have Grabber AT2's on both the MJ and Niva. The shop that mounted the MJ’s tires didn’t ask (and I didn’t know), but mounted the letters out. The shop that did the Lada’s tires asked, I told them I didn’t really care, and they put them in. I think with the Niva’s looks, it fits having them in, but they definitely add something to the tire, an optical illusion making them look bigger maybe? I haven’t ever wished the MJ’s white letters were in, but there’s been times I’ve wished the Niva’s weren’t.

Where are you? I’m in Northern Alberta and they’re all gone.
Maybe it’s because I went with 35's and they’re very popular up here.
So far I’m liking them, although towing on ice is pretty sketchy... Much better than my previous Toyo MT’s, though.

I only like white letters out on a period style build something like an old bronco with slot mags. otherwise I think it looks dumb.

Laces out! er, I mean white letters out.

Bfg’s have to be white out.. its basically a requirement..
Those are real nice, what size?

Growing up, there were typically several trucks on hand at any given time. Any 2WD truck had ‘em facing in, any 4WD truck had ‘em out.

My wife’s Kia minivan tires are a typical light truck size so when I was tire shopping a lot of the tires had a white letter option. I was tempted to have them installed with the letters out but my wife nixed that idea. If it were mine, the Sedona would have BFG A/Ts with the white letters showing.

Definitely out.

On a 4x4 wig big tires always show those letters. A street car is usually better wig all black sidewalls, exception: white walls on old cars.

I have ko2s on my truck and love them but boy do I hate white letters out. Seriously it is the worst only acceptable on a race car.

Cars IN, Trucks OUT. Unless you get crappy tires for your 4x4. Don’t do that

I’m in Central Ontario. I picked up a set of 265/70 R17s for my ‘02 Xterra back in the summer. I had a set of the old style All-Terrain TAs before and they made me a believer.
So far mine have been great in the snow, but I’m switching over to a set of Hankook winters for the next few months because I got them for free on rims.

285/75/16. It’s as big as I can fit without a lift, and the same size I just had on a 2001 F250...they looked big on that, so I’d imagine they’ll look huge on my FJ80.

White letters out is so 80's!

If you got em, flaunt em. 60's vehicles apply, too.

Dat Cougar tho.

nice, I’ll be putting 265/70-R17 onto the Tacoma this spring, also big as you can go without a lift..

An angel dies every time someone mounts their BFG AT’s with the whites inside.

You’re god damn right. Let the angels live, I say.
