This is relavent my interests. It’s a 400 with dual carbs. Seems I can get a carb rebuild kit for about 35 bucks. Here’s some more pics.

For $275 NP. Syncing carbs is easy, especially with just two, give it a good look over, and if all is well I’d say go for it.

Check on general parts availability for other things. Buddy of mine gave up on his XJ650 Maxim because many parts are either mind-numbingly expensive or just damn near impossible to find.

that seems a easy flip.

cars are easy to rebuild, syncing them isnt that much of an issue.

order I would do this:

1: wash. see if anything is cracked, check chain for rust, bearings for play,brake line for cracks etc etc
2: charge battery, try and see if it at least turns over. (make sure bike is in neutral)
if turns over:

3: remove tank + carbs. flush tank, rebuild carbs. replace ALL fuel hoses. reinstall
4: turn over, get to run. check all lights, wires, fuses, everything electrical.

5: replace: chain, sprockets, oil, brake fluid, brake pads if needed, new brake line, tires (ESP tires)

at this point, you have a running, riding, street worthy bike.

if it doesnt turn over:
smack the starter a couple of times. might just be stuck
check: kick stand safety switch, clutch safety switch, starter switch at the handle bar. if those all check out, check starter solenoid. if that’s good too, then its a starter at best, or its totally pooched at worst.

for $275 this is a no brainer! I’d love it to teach my wife on, but I never find them locally.

Have you tried your local FB marketplace. It’s better than CL for me, but I live in a small town so most people don’t bother with Craigslist

I live on CL. The region I’m in is stuffed with people who think everything is worth the max...it’s very hard finding a steal in these parts. I do OK with weird items, but never cars and bikes.
