Looks like a box elder beetle, but too big. That or it’s hard to tell the scale... why no banana?

What you have there is a member of the true big family, Hemiptera. Although they have no stinger, that long proboscis can create a deep puncture into which they deliver digestive juices. I learned the hard way that it hurts just as bad as a wasp sting.
