Does anyone know where the 12v terminal is located to open the hood on a 918 Spyder? Please email me: anabors@dupontregistry.com
Thanks- Andrew Nabors- duPont Registry

Huh, here’s an interesting video of a different Porsche. Clever.
Also, the comments mention a cable behind a wheel. Who knows about that, though.

Funny enough, I have had to deal with a dead battery problem on a Porsche convertible, but it was a Boxster.

RTFM? Ive never even seen one get opened, so beats me. Cant you plug it into the wall for a while?
How mad would you be if I put your email on the Oppo mailing list?

Not to sound stupid, but assuming it has one that can be got to, have you tried the fuse box? I noticed forums on other models where you hook your red cable to something in the fuse box and your black to the metal on the door catch.

Serious answer: Start on page 52 of the following PDF from Porsche Service.
It looks like Page 57 has the info you’d need - there’s a removable underbody panel in the tunnel to access the 12v battery.

I appreciate this, we disconnected the HV system, but the 12v system is unresponsive :(
Should I use our Fisker Karma to jump start? Irony?

Hah!
What do you mean, unresponsive? Did you get into that panel and couldn’t get it to work even with a jump? Or are you not quite there yet?
I find it truly fascinating, in any case. I learned something today!

Nothing in the High Voltage side will acknowledge the wall charger, and nothing on the 12v side responds to 20 amps of juice.

Ok, behind the 3rd fuse box is a black plastic sealed container. Inside the container is a long thin stainless hook. The hook is used to depress an insulator fuse for the entire 12v system. Inserting the hook into a blind hole on the firewall closes the switch and re-initializes the HV inverter. Now the car is using wall power to reboot the 12v systems. All it took was 6 hours of heartache and a call to Atlanta...

Hmm any chance you want to come on the podcast and talk about what you do, and the magazine in general?
