That arm in the back is supposed to move up and down, it’s broken. Its got 2 electric motors but only one of them works. Its been wired incorrectly. Um I think we can enter in some sort competition if we keep it to spec.

As a coach I have such hatred of FTC parts from the year we “had” to use them for FRC. It was one of those brilliant idea but horrible execution moments of trying to force collaboration between ftc and frc teams, it hasn’t been tried it again since.

I started coaching when it was FVC which sounds like about the time you were a high school student, before the great fall out. We continued with vex due to having all the equipment already. And over the past 8 years it has gotten better, new robot controller next year supposedly.
I have since switched schools and no longer do any FIRST stuff, we do VEX instead since its cheaper per student and the longer season.
I miss the fabrication part of FRC but not managing the team and the budget.
