ARO was a Romanian builder of pretty tough SUVs. They went belly up about 10 years ago, after a plan to sell them in the US under the Cross Lander name didn’t materialize. IIRC, they were going to get around FMVSS regulations by just intentionally adding enough weights to the trucks to make them heavy enough to be exempt from most crash safety standards.
