Asking for a friend... He also has an 80 lb greyhound that looks identical to mine.

You’re married?!
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:11 |

In May. I have to go to Grad school though so post-grad might be a year after married.

1) Grats!
2) Yes, yes it would.
3) Get a set of RE-71Rs as wedding gift, and you can both go kick ass at post-honeymoon autocross.

Check on insurance rates first. I’ve heard the premiums can be pretty rough on these for under-25 men. Being married should help though.

Neat! Well in that case, the answer is YES. Especially before it’s too late when you have kids and shit.

The biggest downer that I should put is I have an 80 lb greyhound. Would he fit in the back seat?
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:19 |

I have a ticket which might negate the bonus of being married.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:21 |
|
That might be a tight fit, but it’d probably be more comfortable for him than for a human.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:22 |
|
I also will have the Ls and the fiancés RX350 so maybe I won’t have to take him in that. It would be my main DD during non traffic hours which for my job should work out
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:22 |

FR-S with 80 pound dog LOL
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:25 |
|
Well, humans don’t fit well in the back seat, but that’s mostly because the designers don’t believe in passengers who have legs. I expect it would make a pretty good dogshelf, though.
Caveat: I don’t have one myself (dog or FR-S), but I have driven them a few times (FR-S, not dog) and several of the people I autocross with enjoy them (again, FR-S - maybe dog too though?)
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:25 |
|
I will still have the Ls and the Rx350 so maybe I don’t have to worry about that after all
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:26 |
|
So it’s more of a, “Can I stuff the dog in the back seat in a pinch?”
If so, I don’t think it’d be a problem at all.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:27 |
|
That’s good. I think this could be a cheap, fun, manual DD.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:30 |
|
Probably not with the dog. Getting mine into a 4door Camry is a task in and of itself.
Focus/Fiesta ST may be more appropriate.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:32 |
|
Absolutely.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:33 |
|
Yep. That will negate it across the board for any vehicle you consider though. Honestly it depends on a lot of factors but once you do start shopping, if you still have the FR-S or any other sporty 2+2 on your list, make sure the ask about insurance early. Also because insurance rates make absolutely no sense make sure you check the BRZ too. It could be more or it could be enough less to make the decision.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:35 |

Husband + wife + dog in a FR-S doesn’t sound practical!
Sounds like a sporty hatchback or wagon would be perfect, though.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:35 |
|
I would say no. Go Focus ST.

I’ve gotten labs into the back of my GenCoupe just fine. I’m sure a WRX is the obvious response.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:41 |

Now that I think I’ll have the Alana’s the Rx350 making it not as big of a deal
![]() 10/12/2016 at 00:54 |

For a dog that size, consider a convertible...
Speaking of which, a convertible FR-S would be pretty rad.

Does this friend of yours also drive a Lexus LS?

To be honest it will be rough, the Toyobaru twins are small compared to my 4th gen Fbody. It was tough for our ~45lb German Shepard/Collie mix to get into the back. Once she got back there it wasnt too bad but she definitely preferred the front because it was hard for her to lay down due to the 2+2 seating. And after getting in a BRZ it was evident there is even less back there. Not trying to sway anything but just giving the facts.
But here is a link giving you more of an idea http://www.edmunds.com/subaru/brz/2013/long-term-road-test/2013-subaru-brz-rear-seating-comes-in-handy.html

LS400 ? And no. Especially not with a dog.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 09:30 |

If he likes choosing between the dog and the lady, then yes, the FRS could be okay. Passenger seat may need to go however.
Otherwise, its more of a second car, toy car, or ‘Im single and dont care’ car.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 10:17 |
|
I would keep the Ls400 and the fiancé would still have the Rx350
![]() 10/12/2016 at 10:22 |
|
Yes. And his fiancé also has a Rx350
![]() 10/12/2016 at 10:24 |
|
Then go for it. New or used ?
![]() 10/12/2016 at 10:31 |
|
No idea. I’m scared of the kind of thrashing that an used one would have received from the previous owner but they are more affordable.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 10:37 |
|
Yeah. I haven’t looked but a new one can’t be that much more expensive can it ?

My cousin carried his wife and kid in his just fine. Honestly it felt like there was more space back there than GM and Ford’s pony cars.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 18:49 |
|
I would never own a pony car either so that’s good.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 19:39 |

On negative note for the FRS, for the price, the Boostang and Camaro are better cars. Much better cars.

Duh duh duuuuuuhhh

Having driven one, and driven it hard, there is a reason there is a FiST in the drive and not another Toyota. Unfinished is a good way to describe it. It needs the 1.6 turbo Boxer that is in the Levorg.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 22:29 |
|
Would a Turbo kit fix that?
![]() 10/12/2016 at 22:41 |
|
Yes and no, it would make it fast, but then you would have the reliability of a modified car. A PP Boostang would be a much better car. Especially one with the warrantied Ford Performance tune.
