Nice to see a basic Omni in a state of preservation. I respect whoever has taken care of that car. Almost all of them have been turned to dust. For good reason, you may say, but they were cheap workhorses, taking millions of hard working Americans to criminally low paying jobs.

My high school girlfriend had a black on red Omni with an automatic. It was a surprisingly good little car until she took out a ”no passing” sign with it. Very comfy, economical, pretty fun to drive, great visibility...

Ask the Omni owner how many of those miles were towed behind the motorhome.

Not to be a dick buuuuuuuuuuut.....
The average American makes like 7 times the living wage in developing countries.

Tell that to the people who were stuck driving an Omni to work.

love that rolla

the best color, too
![]() 10/09/2016 at 17:24 |

So what? Does that mean a person here deserves to barely get by?
![]() 10/09/2016 at 17:25 |

The average American, however, doesn’t make 7 times the living wage in America.
![]() 10/09/2016 at 17:38 |

Not to mention cost of living.
![]() 10/09/2016 at 17:42 |

There will always be poor people. It is unfortunate fact of living in a world of limited resources.
![]() 10/09/2016 at 17:46 |

To those people : at least you have a car. Many have only a motorcycle or a scooter. Or a donkey. Or are starving to death.
![]() 10/09/2016 at 17:55 |

No. Because then they would be what we call “wealthy”
There are people in this world who can’t even buy shoes. So anyone who has a car and thinks they are underpaid can move to one of these countries, where they will be the wealthiest person for miles.
![]() 10/09/2016 at 18:11 |

I always quite liked the Omni, actually...one of our distant cousins had one for years and it was very reliable for them!

A few months ago there was a Corolla identical to that with a 1JZ swap for sale in upper Mi, it was glorious.

I don’t accept that argument. This is America. We’re a first world country that’s supposed to set the standard. The way incomes have stagnated for the lower and middle class while the opposite has happened for the top class is unacceptably unhealthy. Democracy is not “love it or leave it,” it’s love it or change it, and it’s time our economy changed for the betterment of all the people.
![]() 10/09/2016 at 21:02 |

Its all relative. I’m not gonna argue that us westerners don’t have it better than others, I’m wealthy compared to who knows how many people in other countries. But here in Canada, which is somewhat similar economically to America, I’m amongst the lowest paid, definiely underpaid for what I do. Underpaid just means you’re being compensated disproportionately for what you do, and in relation to the cost of living in your area. The “other people have it worse so stop complaining” argument is what people in power use to keep people from fighting for a bit more equality, so it strikes a nerve for me.
Tl;Dr, I think you’re comparing apples to oranges

You have a car, tv, nice clothes, food, electricity, and indoor plumbing. Boo hoo.
If you can’t make it happen, and you don’t have a specific reason (I.e government) than it’s your fault. The u.s at least has dozens of private and government programs for education. Even if i didn’t have a degree, steam fitters will literally teach people a well paid trade for free, or trucking, or other trades ect etc. if you feel underpaid, get a job or learn a new one, it’s that easy. I make my own fate, I don’t let others choose it for me.

And how do you suggest eliminating the existence of the lower class on a capitalist system? Because that would make you smarter than any economist in history. I busted my ass to get where I am today. If you would prefer socialism, there are plenty of available options for you.
![]() 10/09/2016 at 23:54 |

Lol ok. That’s a nice reality you live in.
![]() 10/10/2016 at 00:06 |

Nobody is saying we can eliminate the lower class. That’s conceptually impossible. Some people will always make more than others even in Socialism. What we need is for this chart to have patterns that match.

Holy Nice Price on that Corolla! And that Omni needs some Talbot badges posthaste.
![]() 10/10/2016 at 01:02 |

That Toyota does seem like a deal, right? Too bad it’s probably going to end up getting hacked up. I’d love to do a Talbot conversion on that Omni. That would be hilarious. You and I might be the only ones around who would get it.
![]() 10/10/2016 at 01:14 |
|
Yeah, I fear for that car’s future. With luck, it’ll just get a set of wheels and a drop and end up at JCCS. At worst... well, perish the thought.
You’re right, we would probably be the only people on the western seaboard to get the Talbot joke. I’d want to enter it in some Euro shows for maximum troll effect.

OOOOHHH! NICE FINDS!
Why on earth do all these old RWD-car sellers claim stuff like
or do engines swap and drift
For that money the Omni is the way to go really. Love the fact the sellers asks both $1,450 and $1,400. Or should we add those up to each other?
![]() 10/10/2016 at 16:13 |
|
Engine swaps and drifting is all anyone ever thinks about with those cars. It would be so cool to clean it up and keep it stock. It’s a fun driver that way, too. 2850 is way crack pipe for the Omni. But at 1400, I am tempted. TFritch and I were discussing sticking Simca and/or Talbot badges on it which would be hysterical.
![]() 10/10/2016 at 17:10 |

Maybe you’re supposed to subtract those numbers. At $50 this is a no-brainer... I need a car there anyway if I’m visiting, better get that Talbot. I expect a lotus badge on it somewhere though.
![]() 10/11/2016 at 00:45 |

If I can talk him down to 50, you got it. The Lotus badge will be the icing on the cake. That’ll really shock the French car nerds.

Don’t forget to add the striping. And rally lights!
![]() 10/11/2016 at 22:59 |
|
And the black and silver paint. And, I love the wheels those had.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 05:11 |
|
Those double 4-spokes they came as standard with or the minilites used in rally? Either would fit my needs...
I’d keep it white though, make it a US edition. Just add a black striping accordingly. Or better yet: Blue.
![]() 10/12/2016 at 23:06 |
|
These things. They look a lot like the wheels on my Le Car, actually.
A blue stripe down the side would look sweet.
![]() 10/13/2016 at 03:40 |
|
Yeah, those are the ones I meant: double 4-spoke. Don’t forget to mount 4 Cibié s as well! Now go get it!
![]() 10/13/2016 at 13:06 |
|
The wheels and the rally lights are going to cost more than the car. But, it’ll be worth it. Should I also add a couple Cibiés to the roof for good measure?
![]() 10/13/2016 at 15:08 |
|
Are you mad???? Don’t forget about the drag!!!! You could add such a hip airscoop up on the roof tough. And NOS.
![]() 10/13/2016 at 21:54 |
|
Good point. And since it’s really just a Dodge Omni, that drag would kill it. They came with a rooftop scoop? I don’t think I’ve seen that.
![]() 10/14/2016 at 03:38 |
|
They didn’t come with one back then. Rallycars do now.
![]() 10/16/2016 at 22:25 |

I thought maybe Simca was ahead of the curve. A scoop on a Horizon is a hilarious idea. I wonder if a wing could be made to work, too.
![]() 10/17/2016 at 04:34 |
|
The wing has to be period correct though. So go for something like the one of the 205 T16.
![]() 10/17/2016 at 21:15 |
|
That would be cool. With a big “Talbot-Simca” on it. I’d blow minds.
![]() 10/18/2016 at 02:32 |
|
Don’t you need a spare tire on the bonnet or roof as well? Fuck drag.
![]() 10/18/2016 at 23:46 |
|
On the roof would be great. It would completely negate the rear wing.
![]() 11/06/2016 at 10:32 |

Did someone say Peugeot and Talbot rally cars?
Went to an event the other day, here’s some SR20.
There was also a beautiful stock Sunbeam Lotus with those LeCar-looking wheels in the car park, but I didn’t get a picture.
