Maker Select v2 3D Printer... We got a nicer one in my studio a few weeks ago and I’ve been hooked ever since! Now I just have to find some car models to print...

STL, but I use Rhino 5 for modelling, so I can use .3dm, .dwg, .obj, and probably a few others

Have you gone through thingiverse yet? I snagged most of the f1 tracks off there last year.

printing hotwheels might be the only useful thing for a 3d printer.

Not if you’re an architecture student...

I’ll check it out!

Ford offers .STL files to print models of some of their cars.

I saw that, they charge a couple bucks for them though. Honda has some as well but it’s all concept cars

Do u know if u can print from sketchy? What dimensions can print. What would it cost to print a house that is something like 8x3x3 or close to do that?

Great things! Wish I had an ABS printer if my own! Great for printing car parts or replacement parts you model in Sketchup or something! :)

they require you to buy a 3d printer?
![]() 10/08/2016 at 21:05 |

No, but they require me to make a shit ton of models

so no foamboard eh?

I’m sure someone has uploaded the files to thingiverse or something. Or you could go ham and print the Subaru EJ that was on the front page a while back.

Foamboard can only take you so far...

I beg to differ! All the Center caps on my car atm were 3D printed as there were no Hyundai caps for that set of wheels (they are Ford Escort rims until I get something better). I also modeled and had printed a holder for my snow brush that mounts on my rear parcel shelf so it’s up and out of the way during the part of the year I don’t need it. A 3D printed custom peg holder is mounted to a lightswitch by my front door for holding my keys, and a 3D printed replacement dimmer switch is on the wall in mom’s bedroom after her old knob broke! :)
They are pretty useful if you have a reason to use them (or if you can just find a reason to!)

So how do you like it so far?

It’s pretty cool; we’ve been having some issues with the nozzle clogging lately, but I’ve already used it a ton for architectural models.

Sweet! I have a generic Prusa i3 system that I had to fight with, and I finally got the axis scaling sorted out. Then my filament broke off in the extruder, and the end melted, and jammed everything.....

Par for the course...
