Try and fit another modern V8 in there

A Hartley would fit.

They would most likely fit in there the same way the LS did. The mass of OHC V8's are up top, where the LS wouldn’t fit either

Been pointed out. I have no prior knowledge of it but I’m in love.

I will own one one day. Preferably in an MR2.

Heart transplant for Charlie.
Speaking of which, what happened with the engine rebuild? I don’t recall seeing a post on the final outcome.

Engine’s completely disassembled, but the rebuild’s on hold right now. I landed a great job opportunity and moved up to New York, so it’s all sitting in a quite large storage space that costs less than a tenth of what my apartment does. Blacktop’s installed and the car is on the road, but my brother’s been driving it. I’m thinking about taking a few weeks off this winter to grind out rust and seal the bottom of it. I just don’t want to bring it up right now because I know that one winter will eat it alive.

this is like a 2.6L v8 so packaging is way smaller.

Oh, do you like small-displacement high-revving motors that work well in mid-engined applications too?
