This was last night. It’s been baking in the booth overnight. Fender being blended in and the hood was being sanded. So glad I had them delete the front Arrow emblem.

Looks good, hopefully you don’t have to deal with the blizzard conditions.

Very nice. Enjoy.

Wait...who makes this car?

I like the GTO - it’s very unassuming, although the colour does stand out a lot. Looks good as new, though!
If new parts are needed for the GTO, are you just out of luck or can you obtain these from Australia?

It’s a BMW can’t you tell? Look at the kidney grills!

agreed

Ah yes I see it now.
Side note: I used to think my wife was really good at identifying cars until I asked her about a debadged one.

It feels a bit empty but dayum does it look clean!

Total mystery.

But it really needs a GTO badge or something.

“So glad I had them delete the front Arrow emblem.”
Funny, GM thought the same thing. :/

Trufax: I had all kinds of trouble as a kid telling the difference between Ponchos and Bims due to that. Particularly E36s vs. Grand Ams.

It’s a huge pain in the ass. We got parts from like 4 different sources. Or more. Suprisingly I found a new unpainted bumper cover but everthing else is is used parts. I was [] that close to buying a whole gto from a salvage yard and just stripping it.
Buying new parts is just unfeasible. $1700 for a bumper (in most cases) $2300 for a fender, etc. Insurance totalled it because it was close to the total value and pretty much any incidental item would be a few hundred dollars and push it over the limit.
In the end, I ended up making some money on this deal though.

I could see that happening for sure.

From the front or the back? I feel like from the back it could be hard to tell on some cars if you aren’t into them, the front fascia is usually what gives it away or the side profile.

I suppose the same would apply for any sort of rebadged Holden that makes it over here. It’s a real shame because the Aussie cars are pretty cool.
In any case, I'm glad that it worked out in the end.

Ooh right in the heart.

Good call on the delete, because unless you go aftermarket, that’s a $120 emblem from GM. Ask me how I know.

GTO badges on the fenders are still there. But only barely. They were rivted on so I didn’t feel like filling the fender.
![]() 01/22/2016 at 12:05 |

Oh I priced them.
Yeah, $120 emblem that the center CRACKS AND FALLS OUT OF THE HOUSING. I pulled every emblem off the thing excecpt the nice GTO badge on the fenders.

Yep. I can only imagine how expensive one of these imported Skylines would be if it was in an accident.
The parts estimate alone, sourcing new parts from manufacturers, was something like $8k I think. My total parts were less than half that.

Woo hoo! I’m so glad you were able to save the GTO!

Pontiac and proud. or not. tell everyone it is a holden.

Me too! All thanks goes to the body shop. They did a helluva job.
![]() 01/22/2016 at 13:00 |

Lol, they wouldn’t know what that is. I didn’t mind the Pontiac bit, I just wish they made emblems that didn’t fall apart and then charge way too much for the same problem later. Oh well.

Front. To be fair it was the KIA model that blatantly attempted to copy Mercedes.

Oh was it the one with the old E Class style lights? Amanti I think

That’s the one. It was an ugly beastie

I was in a minor fender bender with my ‘04 a few years back. The body shop redid the entire front of my car, but left the emblem off. They even asked me if I really wanted it back on there. I told them of course I did because I didn’t want the empty indent there. It took them two weeks to special order it from Australia, and only after they installed it did they tell me the price.
![]() 01/22/2016 at 14:22 |

Oh yeah, I started to explain to the owner why I wanted him to delete it and he looked up the price and immediately agreed that he could delete it cheaper than replacing it.
