Unless these people have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about.

They have no clue what they’re talking about. Every comprehensive policy covers vandalism that I’ve seen. Slashed tires, no matter how many, count as vandalism and are covered.
If I had to guess, I imagine what started the thought train is that some dude had his deductible at like 750 w/ 250 a pop tires so he’s out of pocket for the first three. When insurance explained that to him he misunderstood how deductibles work or they explained it poorly.

And more importantly, I cannot think of one situation where slashing someone else’s tires would ever be defensible. Some of these commenters are out there, man... scary.

^ That’s
some high quality vandalism. Break into the trunk, slash the spare tire, close the trunk again.

God, this reminds me of Halloween. I drove down to Rolla, MO to party with a few folks. Parked my car at my friend’s frat house for the night and was one of three cars in the small lot. The next morning both cars parked on either side of mine had all four tires slashed. Nobody knows why or who did it. I lucked out, especially considering I just got new tires a week before that.
