It’s a crying shame I can’t set the throttle up on my Rover so that it warms more quickly and doesn’t just sit there at idle. Nor control the choke down to the finest touch. Oh wait I can. Well, maybe I shouldn’t start my Benz up except oh wait it’s a diesel and has a block heater. Hmm, well, how about the Ranchero. There’s no way I can set a program in a Pi controlling a fuel injection computer to execute a planned warmup when its balls cold out oh wait again. Well, that leaves the Lincoln. No way I can just install an inlet heater and garage it. Hmm. Looks like I’m batting 0/4 on the give-a-fuck-ometer for cold starts.

If I’m not mistaken VW/Audi has little heaters in the vents that turn on until the engine warms up so you don't get cold air blowing on you. I think that's what he's talking about. Other manufacturers may do this.

My 3 will not heat up under any circumstances until I actually drive it around. I could leave it for 15 minutes in the driveway and it’ll still blow cold air until I drive it 3-4 km

Best modification we’ve ever done. Heat it up in the winter, cool it down in the summer. It’s really for the kid. then it’s not 100 when he gets in it in the summer and it’s not -10 in the winter

I think that they got rid of those in the mass-decontenting spree that was the Mk6 Jetta and Golf :(. Given how ridiculously long the 2.5 takes to warm up, it’s sorely missed.
