Whatever engineer decided where to put the oil filter cartridge on fiats is an ass.

Owner of a Fiat with no oil filter cartridge reporting in!

And Subarus. #Myarmisonfire

I'm on my lunch break now and out of there. Plus I'm not sure I could even get my phone in there to take a picture. It's at an angle and beneath a bunch of crap that you have to take off as best you can and twist out of the way as much as possible.

Older model?

Every time I hear about an oil filter cartridge I think back to my Sega Genesis. An oil cartridge system like that would be pretty tits. Or maybe a SNES-type with an eject button.

Seems legit

Haven't had a problem with subarus. Long sleeves and work quickly?

Only one thing to do: Rover V8 swap so it will have the oil filter up front and easy to get at! Actually, no, that’s a terrible idea.

Look at the itty bitty text at the bottom lol

fiat has engineers?

Was no where near that straightforward.

Cartridge oil filters in general though

In all honesty they aren’t too bad. I just like to complain.
If the filter is ever over-tightened however, they are pretty dang frustrating.

Same story on my alfa, as if it was designed by someone with telekinesis.
On the plus side, check out the turbo on a 500 abarth, its so tiny and cute! You could fit it on a key chain

You're right.

I’ve changed the oil in my Abarth and I didn’t think it was that bad. Provided you have a socket that fits, a swivel, and decent extention. Less of a pain in the ass than any other car ive changed the oil on. Took longer to get that stupid plastic shield off the bottom to get to the drain plug.

That tiny thing is a turbocharger!?

These are my favorite to change filter cartridges on. Draining the oil always makes a mess though with two plugs it is twice as many chances.

Looks like one heck of a complicated space to get into, I can’t imagine much worse! :O

The cobalts cartridge oil filter is a breeze. Just pop the engine cover off and it’s right in front and easy to get to

Yup. A consumable part that's easy to replace. Imagine that.

It’s especially shocking since it was designed by old GM haha

Whoever did that needs to be unfriended on facebook, unfollowed on twitter and unlife’d on earth.

Long wobble extension through the gap between the headlight and the support.

Had to get other stuff out of the way first. Like an air hose. Especially if I wanted to get it out after unscrewing it.

Some of the engineers left to pursue their dreams of becoming a master chef. It didn’t work out very well....
