Last night was long, but well worth the wait. My girlfriend got home from Western NY (back to NH) with our first puppy at 2:30 AM. Her name is Iris and she’s an 8-week old Australian Shepherd.
I’m obsessed. Post pictures of your dogs because there is literally nothing better than your very own dog. (no cats please)

Sadly I had to go to work for a little bit, but I have a feeling I’ll post more pictures of her later this weekend.

I love him!

Man do I love big dogs! I originally wanted a St. Bernard, Bernese, or Newfie, but our apartment has an 80 lb. limit. I think Iris is perfect though. She’s the runt too so she’s only expected to get to be 25-30 lb.

I love Australian Shepherds, had a friend growing up whose family bred them on their farm. I have lots of memories of being in a horse stall and being absolutely covered in puppies.
We adopted a three year old lab mix about two months ago. Here’s Marley overwhelmed with Christmas gifts.

That is super cute! Here is mine, not 8 weeks but 8 years. Is yours a standard size? Moxie here is a mini. You have to watch out for them, I’m pretty sure Moxie is a lot smarter than I am - I go to work every day and she plays frisbee at the beach.

Our Border Collie mix is a quarter Aussie. He’s only about 6 months old. Here’s one of him at 14 weeks when we got him:

Awesome looking pup. I have four dogs of my own (yellow lab, bluetick coonhound, 2 pit mixes), but no pictures with me right now.
I love dogs (duh). Even though they're occasionally a PITA, they'll always be happy to see you, and they make my life a joy.

She doesn’t really play, which is a bit disappointing. She only cares about food, attention, and sleep.

I’ve owned 3 Aussies, and they are amazing dogs. Get ready though, they are smart as hell and full of energy. You need to train the shit out of them and wear them out with a ton of play time, otherwise they will become destructive. You also need to be extremely consistent, or else they will KNOW when you are not being serious, and take advantage of it.

Agreed, dogs are the best. This is Sydney the doodle.

So I’ve heard haha I played with her from about 6 this morning until leaving late for work at 9 and then I went home for an early/extended lunch and played for another hour and a half. She’s wiped, but I can tell that she’s learning already.

Iris is standard size, but she is the runt of the litter so she’s only expected to be 25-35 lb.

Also Moxie is adorable

Moxie is a (small) mini and around 25 lbs when we are reasonable with treats. A friend has a (big) mini Charlie who is around 35 lbs and looks like a small standard.

Yup, he's got like 3 pheasant hunts under him now I think

Maybe a bit late to this party, but here’s our Aussie, “Dually” (We didn’t name him)

Never too late! Question though, does yours have his tail docked, naturally short, or naturally long?
![]() 01/29/2016 at 15:21 |
|
He’s definitely just got a little stub back there, no idea at all if it’s natural or docked. He was already 3 or so when we got him.
