You can play mario on calculators now?? Damn I feel old

My name’s not Brian. It’s just the alias I chose because my real name’s too ethnic.

Turbo or non-turbo?
![]() 01/19/2016 at 11:55 |

I refuse to use a non-backlit display calculator.

I’m still rocking my TI-89 Titanium from college years back in 04. =solve( is the greatest thing ever for engineering classes
![]() 01/19/2016 at 11:56 |

so i just pulled out a Monthy Python video for nothing...? That’s unfortunate

Supercharged!
![]() 01/19/2016 at 11:58 |

At least you went with the Ti calculator with the “friendlier” learning curve and it will still do most of your homework for you if you know how to use it. Learning to use it may or may not be harder than learning how to do the homework without it though.

But no backlit display.
![]() 01/19/2016 at 11:58 |

You and your fancy 89, I was an 85 man. I could rock that Ti-Basic. I wrote so many great programs that...are now gone because I forgot to change the battery...DOH!

I currently have the lowest TI-nspire model, so I’m familiar with the interface. I imagine the CX won’t be too different.

Did you get the CAS? I got the CAS for my last year of college, Such an epic calculator.

I generally don’t do homework in the dark

I think before that it was a TI -82, the one where you had to create the formulas and save them, but all you had to do was hit A=, B=, C= solve, bam right answer. Eventually teachers would make us do a “erase memory” before the test and hold up our calculators showing it so we couldnt cheat
![]() 01/19/2016 at 12:06 |

Mine doesn’t have CAS, but I’ve been able to live without it.

ahh, It was helpful for some stuff in engineering, but you definitely don’t need it. I just used it to check my work when I would doubt myself.

Thank god for WolframAlpha!

Hahaha, I almost mentioned you could just use wolfram alpha in my previous post. Wolfram is a lot more lenient on how you enter the equations as well, and give more info. I used the hell out of wolfram alpha for my DSP class.

I can’t believe I had HP calculators occupy my computer screen just now. I just might throw up.

I used an HP 39G as my first graphing calculator. It broke during a test.

That video explains alot for me. I am one of those eternal students. Back in HS in the 90s, I got a Ti-85 for $120. I gave it to my sister when she hit high school before I took all my crazy college math classes.
Later on, I go back to College for more degrees. I went to Staples to get a new graphing calculator as I couldn’t use my phone or tablet. The same Ti-85 was still $120! I was dumbstruck.
I had mom dig through my old box of stuff to find my ancient Ti-85 and mail it to me. I was upset as my sister had erased Tetris from the calculator. It took me forever to program that shit!
My teacher told all of us to submit our calculators for review so we don’t use a USB attachment to download programs. I showed her mine had an AV jack, so I was in the clear!

broke how? My 38G is still going strong. So is my 48GX... but I just emulate these days... Why carry multiple devices when the smartphone will do all the heavy lifting I need?

Most of the buttons stopped working for no reason.

You could back in 1998 as well.

We use these in our math and science classes. Super capable. And pricy.
Oh and the finger scroll pad can be very finicky.
But very cool
